Anyone have any experience with them?

I'm looking at their 18bgs hdbaset matrix switchers.

Reliability?

I use them (my house, on personal jobs, and in ISE, CEDIA & CES Displays) and have had no issues. Also good tech support.

My distributor just picked them up, I'm looking forward to trying them out. Still partial to ethereal products though where they overlap.

We have used them with good results and they do have good support. Haven't tried their new 18gbs switchers though.

You're not talking about the AV*D Pro Connect brand are you?

No, it's not a house brand. There are some very interesting HDMI helpers. They are manufacturing their own products, not slapping a brand on something half baked by an offshore backroom.

Their site offers a handy data rate calculator and drivers for popular control systems.

If Brent uses it, that is all the convincing anyone should need. :)

We just finished up a small commercial project with the 18g switcher and a handful of their extenders. No issues other than some funky stuff with an Enseo box and a couple of Sony panels. Their support was great by telling us what settings to change in the Enseo setup.

Thank You!

There are several great companies that I admire for their people, products and/or support (AVPro Store, Zektor come quickly to mind) that have overlapping products.
This is going to happen in our small little world, and there are certainly time when a product other than one of mine is the correct solution (BTW: Zektor uses my cables and AVPRO Store sells my cables). These overlaps do drive the sales people nuts (mine and theirs), but that is life. Get the product that is right for your job and support the vendors who support you.

What was your experience with the Sony panels? I ask because I was at a Sony demo (projectors) recently and the AV Pro was the switcher. And it was lagging badly when switching. I've seen this piece in action before with normal results.

Roddy, That was not the switcher that is the very sad nature of projectors.
Sony and JVC both take (what clients feel) is a very long time to sync (I have not really tested other projectors, I am hoping to get and Epson and Vivtec soon).

We had 5 sources (5 being AVP extenders from wall plates or floor boxes, and 1 Enseo hotel provided satellite box. 2 Sony pro projectors with integrated HDBT inputs, and 2 Sony KDL E series panels. No lag issues to speak of out of the ordinary. But the panels would sync properly with the Enseo box only the first time you selected it. Once you switched sources and back, the color went wonky..... pink/purple hue..... like when you have YPbPr Vs. RGB or something. If you unplugged something or powered things down, it would always be right the first time. AVP said they had seen similar results with these new e series panels and suggested setting the Enseo box to fixed 1080p output. Of course we sent the request to the Enseo installer and he has yet to make the changes or even contact us about it. Brilliant. Might have to build a macro that powers the panels off then on again as a band-aid.

The wall plate extenders with VGA and HDMI worked great, as did the super slim extenders. The only other gotcha we uncovered was that you cannot use their power squid with the 100m extenders. At least not with as many as we had. We had 6 and 2 of the 70m. They had not tried it but the current draw specs were not promising. They also were surprised that we used their rack mount shelf with the bigger extenders. Also designed for the 70m ones. But all the holes line up like it was made for it so we used it.

The way we got hooked up with AVP was a bit odd. CEDIA 2016 they showed a multiview processor. Shortly after, I was browsing their website at work for the first time ever. 30 minutes later the phone rings. My boss answered and it was AVP asking if we had any questions about their switcher or other products. WTF? :)

I have their 8x8 18g in my home and have 2 others in clients home. Works great. I have been using their extenders and have not had any issues. Tech support is great too. I haven't been using anything else.

I have their brand new 8x8 hdmi (18gbps; hdcp 2.2, etc) matrix for my own personal system but it is not installed yet. I plan on integrating it into my Elan system and AVPro developed the elan driver themselves. So I don't have any experience to offer on this matrix, but my expectations are high as it will be an all 4k system when it is finished

I've used some of the 18g splitters with EDID management and also buy my Celerity optical hdmi solutions from them.

Great tech support and great service if you ever have a problem.
