Client would like an audio announcement to be audible in a temperature controlled two car garage. I have an audio line in feed and power available, so I just need a suitable powered speaker.
The key is we need something wall mountable and unobtrusive, and nothing I turn up meets these two requirements. (As part of the unobtrusive aspect, I'm thinking one speaker instead of two.)
Thoughts?

What size garage? What SPL you looking for? You said powered. Does that mean you only have line level going to it? What's the construction? Can you put ceiling speakers in ceiling drywall? You going to build backbox and hide it? If line level feed; can you put Crown amp on the shelf/rack and run speaker level to it?

I appreciate the attention to the post, but I think I addressed those questions. 2 car garage SPL adequate for announcements to be audible in 2 car garage Only line level available Would like wall mounted speaker (I would fall back on a separate amp, but I’d prefer fewer pieces.)

Genelec. [Link: genelec.com]Or What type of wire is the “audio line in feed”? Does it originate at the Rack? If it’s a twisted pair, like a 22/2, and it comes from the rack. You could put a small 70volt amp at rack and a single or pair of JBL Control 23-1/(or 25’s)

Something intended for a computer audio speaker. Typically they are single powered with the stereo unit powered from the primary.

this is probably closer to what poster is asking for. Available at my favorite supplier. Eon and Genelec are fabulous products. They are ten pound hammers when you need a jewelers hammer... [Link: jblpro.com]

I think the thing everyone is missing here is: He is NOT looking for a 'music' system. He is looking for an announcement system. Wall mounted and self powered.
The Bogen AMBSL1 is exactly what you are looking for, based on your description.

The Bogen AMBSL1 is exactly what you are looking for, based on your description. That does look pretty perfect. The only thing I can’t tell from the specs is if it can take a “standard” unbalanced line level audio feed.

When it comes right down to it, is it simpler to have an adequate 24 VDC supply on a shelf somewhere, and run power as well as audio to several speakers, or to have an amp on a shelf, say a TOA 60 watt amp, and just run speaker wire? As for the question about input connections, the instructions at [Link: bogen.com] show an illustration of the back of the cabinet, with TIP and RING connections. It apparently doesn't matter whether the input is balanced or not. In similar products, we connect the - of the unbalanced signal to ground. The worst problem you could have here would be that you'd have to buy a transformer, say a 600 ohm to 600 ohm transformer. You'd use this at the entry point to isolate the audio source from the audio in the garage. Then you'd daisy chain together the speaker inputs. There's a note in the manual that's laughable because of what these guys are, but you're cautioned to keep the phase of the connection the same on all speakers, otherwise the bass will be cancelled.

Seriously though, Echo or Dot? You want to be careful how loudly you say "Seriously." I heard a radio guy talking; he said "Seriously?" very loudly, and you could then hear his Siri answer him!
