I have never been a fan of HP.

Don't all of the Dell 17" laptops with SSD have a dedicated number keypad?

Yeah, I think you'll need to use a dongle for the RJ45 port.

My wife wants one and we've looked at Dell & HP.  If the number pad is important to you, I think the only 2-in-1 that has numeric pad is the HP Envy x360 but it's a lower-end model that is thicker and doesn't have SSD drive option.

I think she's going to give up the number pad and get the 15" HP Spectre x360 which is nice and thin with 4k display and SSD drive.

The 15" dell 2-in-1s (Inspiron 7000 series) seem ok, but still missing the 10-key (number pad).  They are available with SSD, but only 1920x1080 screen... wife didn't like the styling of the Dell as well as the HP.

Seems like everything except for the lowest-end models have backlit keyboards now.  I don't remember seeing an Ethernet port on any of the 2-in-1 models... seems like traditional laptops are even missing Ethernet ports.

My Vostro's hinge broke, too- it's now connected to a display and wireless keyboard- wasn't worth replacing the top and it was 5 years old, so I bought a new one to use as a laptop.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

why has no one mentioned any of microsofts offerings? the surfacebook and laptop are bad machines!!!

anyone recommending an apple machine with bootcamp or other method is mad! makes zero sense.

my lenovo y50 is the best machine i have owned. bought it loaded with an i7, 4k screen, backlit keyboard, 2gb video ram, 16gb ram, number pad. $1499 on killer sale. only thing i have done is put a 1tb SSD in it. i beat on this thing ALL EVERYDAY. I can not stress how much i use this thing. it gets beat up. it is on every jobsite, rough in and finish, dusty, dirty, etc. it has NEVER skipped a beat.

i will be pre-ordering the new 15" surfacebook. it was twice what i wanted to spend but considering it is arguably the most important tool i carry, i am going with it. the flexibility it will provide, will be AWESOME!!!!!! I am so glad i didnt buy the incremental surfacebook update last year. i was so close but decided to hold out for the next one. the fact it is offered in a 15" now makes my decision twice as valuable. at 13" i would have probably still kept a laptop. at 15" it is all i will carry.

I didn't know that surfacebook was available in 15".
The smaller 10" and 13" versions are too small for all day, business use that I do.
Just saw review that stated that 15" will be available on Nov. 16th. That's a bit long for me to wait.
But the killer for me is that the 15" starts at $2,500! That's too rich for my blood.

Anyone interested in a great deal on the current (soon to be previous) version of the Microsoft Surface Book? Obviously not the latest greatest but still a powerful machine for a fraction of the original price.

New in box never opened or used. Make me an offer [Link: remotecentral.com]
