I have a client/friend that is a gadget and home automation freak. His home is like a museum to DIY automation. But recently I got him to convert his dedicated theater to Elan control. He wants to add an outdoor camera to his elan system. Any suggestions on a camera?
he has 3 or 4 motion sensor cameras with flash on his driveway. I was at his house a couple nights ago and when I pulled in, it looked like a Rave with all the strobes flashing. He gets notices on his phone when these are triggered, but they only send him still shots. He wants to be able to see live video if he isn’t home and his drive sensors are triggered.

Your friend should stay home, keep the shades shut and cover smoke detectors with foil, burn his trash and probably grow his own food, not use a smart phone and drive a pre computer outfitted vehicle if he must leave his compound.
What's the driveway made of making it so special?

Yesterday, I did a full network upgrade for a client that got that stupid Ring flood light thingy. I say stupid but once I installed APs around the house, the damn thing looked really nice. He gets notifications on his phone, can watch live stream and has 2-way audio right from his phone.
If that damn thing works as advertised, I may need to look into this further and see if this is something I can recommend and make some money on, but like I said, we just did the network upgrade yesterday. Time will tell.

But the ring won’t work with elan. I need something with a standard video format.

What's the driveway made of making it so special? It’s not a paranoia thing (well, maybe just a little, he’s a retired cop). He just likes gadgets. He had some kind of doorbell that would call his cellphone years ago. So now that he has a system that can have a camera integrated, he wants it because he can.

I was like "how the hell does he know Kevin, and why is Kevin sending him crap"?! Then I realized that there might be another Kevin out there; like BWD :-)

The line is getting wider and wider between our products and consumer products. That ring floodlight camera just plain works and is beyond frustrating. I just don’t understand our industry sometimes....sigh

Since we can't see video on TS, and client gets instant notification on phone, etc. and Ring has floodlights built-in (thus negating needing to turn on outside lights based on event notification), I'm struggling to see what notifications can be used. The client that I just did network upgrade for is talking about upgrading house to C4. I would love to grease the wheels by telling him how smart his Ring purchase was and how he can now integrate Ring into C4, but not sure for what?

I have been keeping my eye on the Floodlight and their Spotlight- one version comes with a power cord, so it could be used as a temporary way to see what's happening and these two can be viewed in real time, unlike the doorbells (that may have changed since I looked at the original models). Keep us updated on how they work, OK?

Simply you can trigger lights to come on (I know it’s a floodlight) one client has it in an area of his yard that is dark that has an entrance to his house. He knows that no one is walking by except to go into his house. I have it programmed that when the “line” is tripped to turn on that rooms lights. Another thing for the ring doorbell is when the button is pressed it kicks the TVs over to the porch cameras, rings the whole house music and flashes the back patio light!
