At about 1:12 you can see the parking lot for our office. Our office is the right hand unit of the small brick building towards the top of the image. My truck is parked infront of the larger building on the left side. 3 red trucks in a row next to the building, mine is the smaller one at the top of the row.

Also, if anyone is interested in some cheap gear, we’ve got an insane sale running this week

How fast did the water come up?

I gather you weren't around when it happened, so when did you find out?

I left town heading to OKI and missed it. But, everything with all the tornado's went to the north of Greensboro anyway.

even though it was raining all day, the flooding actually came up really fast. The big building there is our landlord, who has a carpet store. About 4:00 the water started running in the street and he started to move vehicles. His employee got his own vehicle out, and the landlord followed him, but then took the employee back in to get another vehicle. When they went back in, before they could start the other truck, the water rose over 6” and became too high for him to drive his F150 through. It’s the truck at the bottom of the row. Where the trucks are parked is actually a good bit higher than the street, so it wasn’t to the trucks yet. I got there at 4:20 and the water was over my bumper. Final depth was to the tailgate release on my Frontier.

Man, that is crazy. Sorry to hear about your truck, and the shop. I have seen some flooding in the mall parking lot there a couple times, and it can come up fast. Knowing the topography of that area, I realize how deep that is. On another note, Boone sure has changed since I left in 2006.

That’s not mine. It’s someone that does some commercial photography. He has some other videos of town during different storms.

Thanks. Yeah, there have been some changes. On a similar note, a developer tried to buy all the properties in that section for a project, but the body shop wouldn’t sell. One of their biggest contracts requires them to be inside the town limits. Yesterday I wondered if they are kicking themselves.

Pack the whole truck in a bag of dry rice overnight, it will be good as new by tomorrow.

Jokes aside, if you own it, I hope they let you total it.

If it's leased, I hope your insurance just lets you turn it back now, covers the penalties for the damages, and then free you up to get you back into a fresh lease right away.

Flood damage is hard to work with down the road. Every CPU should be replaced, and each side very harness, sensor socket, switch socket, switch, etc needs to be disconnected and sprayed down liberally from all angles with something like Caig DeOxit.

The downside is that there are harnesses buried in places that only the assembly line workers probably know. Electrical gremlins in cars are the absolute worst.

It looks like the insurance company will total it. I’m still waiting on the adjuster to make look at it for the official decision. But I just realized today the worst part of all of it. I have to call XM and cancel my subscription. I’d rather be kicked in the nuts than call XM

Your first statement is on the mark. After that, not so much. In our repair days we dealt with plenty of electronics that were either dunked or dumped upon. Deox it is good for cleaning volume controls and switches. It will not prevent stuff from growing on circuit boards that have been drowned, or especially that have traces of organic materials (mud, silt, soft drinks). A thorough cleaning, especially underneath components like resistors and integrated circuits, is absolutely impossible. Things will start growing months later.

Totaled is the only answer.

BTW, The number of cars on craigslist with salvage titles after hurricane years grows dramatically. Salvage title cars are not good ones to own, unless you personally know that the car was in an accident, and not drowned somewhere.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Man, that's rough.

I live in a rural town an hour and a half from the capital city of our state.

It got flooded in 2011 and again in 2013.

See here: [Link: qt.com.au]

We hadn't moved here at that stage, but i'm told it's amazing how long it takes to recover from this sort of thing and I don't think it can really be appreciated by those who haven't experienced it, but it also did amazing things for the town as far as coming together and helping people out.

I really hope you guys are able to recover and stay in business.

Best wishes from us in Australia.

Casey, come over and I'll kick you in the nuts.

Once you're here in New Mexico, you can stay.
We have no hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, winter storms or wildfires.
Of cause we also don't have any wealth, prospects or future, but hey, you can't have it all, right?

Anytime the SRS (airbag) system is compromised the entire system wires and all must be replaced, to much liability, instant total.
Mention it and your gold.

I worked at a Benz Dealership in Louisville and one summer we had over 6 inches of rain in an hour, flooded the Derby museum all kinds of stuff.
Within hours the insurance companies started calling and telling us to just have the wrecker drop them, they are totaled, we will come get them.
19 Benz's bit the big one in an hour that day.
