I would imagine that anything that you would want to wheel in customer's houses would require a 4 wheel dolly with soft wheels that never touch outside ground.

You could use whatever system you have, roll it on the dirt, gravel, asphalt, concrete driveways; get it up to the front/garage door threshold and lift it onto the furniture dolly that you carried on top of your stack.

Edit: the only downside to systems like this is no way would I ever feel comfortable wheeling something, anything into a client's house.

Risking damage on their wood/marble/leather/whale penis floor is just too much. Having to hand carry all my crap in sucks but....

If I need to bring a buttload of tools and other stuff into a place and not worry about the floors, I have several moving blankets that don't get full of sawdust and crap- they stay clean.
