Who here is using eero? How well does the WiFi work? Never used a mesh network. I always just recommend running Cat5 for proper access points. Sometimes that’s not possible so looking for alternatives. I’ve read good things in another thread but also read don’t use them as routers. Also I see Vol*#^e sells it. Do I still need to sign up on their website? TIA

Couple questions.

Can you use multiple eero’s like a beacon? That way you can utilize the Cat5 jack for a wired connection?

Or can you only use multiple eero’s with Cat5?

Thanks

You can setup Eero wired or wireless. Obviously the benefit of the system is the ability to setup wireless. You can utilize the built in ethernet ports to feed out. I forget what speeds they are rated at though. I have used this to feed into a Sonos system before with success

Eero is pretty sweet for the money. They do have a POE piece coming soon. They will also be selling individual APs soon as well (if you need four pieces over the basic three pack)

I consistently get 200+ down.

Better than an ISP, not as good as separates, Not everybody needs separates. Good enough for a one controller Control4 home.

Even if an extension is wireless, you can use the wired jack to feed another device. The POE unit shown at cedia ain’t, it’s an adapter to feed power over a cat and break it out at the ap into power plug and rj45.

Several distributors now. You sign up as a dealer for support and their dashboard type feature set their rolling out.

We have used Eero on several jobs now. It's a great retrofit solution, especially as an add on to Heos or Sonos to increase reliability. If you sign up online, they have several entry level trainings. After finishing, you can get a discounted unit to test.

The Wi-Fi signal has outperformed many separate AP's including Ubiquity Pros. Not as many config options and they will send emails to your customers, but they are listening to installer feedback. They have an rmr opportunity launching later this year.
