I have been working for other companies for about 7 years and finally decided to go out on my own. I am really busy and things are great, but the jobs keep getting bigger. I don't need a full-time tech, but I often need assist to finish.

It's usually minor cable pulling and term, rack building, and RTI programming.

I have seen services that will bid out contract jobs, but where do you go to pickup workers on a temporary basis and, often, quickly?

Thanks and wish me luck!

I would imagine your options are a buddy or family member whos young enough to be interested in working part time but old enough to be trusted in your customers home.

Cable pulling...equipment carrying...clean up...should be fine for anyone who can walk and talk.

Terminating, rack building, RTI programming? You wont find someone who is capable of performing these tasks and also willing to work whenever you call them.

I think you have to bite the bullet and figure out how to hire someone or outsource low skill items like wire pulling and high skill items like remote programming.

most guys on here are small 1-2 man shops in your exact boat. I desperately need to find a "monkey" to help me out on an as needed basis. Ive been alone for so long I can do alot on my own but when a TV is an old plasma, 65" or bigger and a rack needs to be moved in I need the help. I get by with my brother as he works the night shift but still its tough to work our schedules around each other and a client.

A LOT of what's needed can be done by one person. One person who knows a trusted handyman is way more capable.

On the other hand, when I didn't have anyone who did drywall, I invented clever ways to hide things that have blown away a GC or two!
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Did you explain your ideas in length until mold grew around the wires and covered them up completely?

+1

More money in that, and FAR less frustrating.
