What (if anything) are your clients using to access "alternative" movie streaming sites instead of Plex-based channels?

The same could be answered when almost every client asks about some Slow computer.

What could be SO IMPORTANT that you must get the content right now, by whatever means possible, jumping through technological hoops and ignoring legal ramifications?

Forget about the moral implications (come on, guys, you're not ALL that high and mighty). It is terribly unwise to ask in an open forum how licensed low-voltage contractors might recommend circumventing the law.

which means the studios, actors, riggers etc etc dont get money for the effort they put in. there is a reason why HBO wont let the rest of the world view it.

For someone that is so high on your horse Im shocked at such a response.

Hey son, this has nothing to do with me. I just answered Julie's question.

I'm pretty sure it connects using an HDMI cable. So that makes it all better 😄
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I'm wondering if many (any??) of you actually READ the original post.

I installed Plex on their AppleTV

THEY installed the unsupported channels, so I didn't provide them with the means to do any of this.

I simply asked if there was any other kind of interface that could do the same thing.

I am certainly not in the business of going around setting up pirate streaming systems for end-users.

Keep in mind that not ALL content outside of Netflix etc., is pirated content.

Let's all just take a deep breath.

But our answers did answer the question you asked. We can’t provide alternatives because we have no experience with the services you asked about because of their questionable legal status.

I understand that.

But the I feel the majority of the response was more weighted towards "You shouldn't be doing that!", rather than a "We don't know because we don't do it".

Anyway, I'm done with it now and have told the client I can't help them with the issue.

Thanks for your responses folks.

Thats the right answer to the client. We live in a glut of affordable content. Its absurd for people to look to these shoddy websites to steal a stream when you can rent (in 4k) a 3-month old movie for $6.

Live sports is the tripping point, as a package w/ ESPN, a good selection of college and pro games is still absurdly expensive every month, but its not your responsibility to provide them that access. If they make their future integrator-purchase based on who can best provide them illegal content, both parties deserve the comeuppance they'll eventually get. Tell them as much.

I have a client who has a media PC that they use to access sites such as GorillaVid and the like, however they recently asked to be given something else to access online content due to its lack of a friendly user interface and ease of integration with C4.

I installed Plex to their AppleTVs to which they added the unsupported channels such as G2G.fm and SS-Plex.

The online content seems to be as reliable as one can expect, however they lack the ability to search for particular programs and are forced to have to scroll through page after page after page, just to look for what they HOPE may be there.

What other options are around, other than a media PC or PLEX, to access website based streaming media that isn't available via Netflix, Stan etc.?

You know, I'm not sure I totally understand all the requirements but I'm wondering if a 'device mirror/cast' solution might fit the need better. Mirror a tablet or laptop 'screen' to the TV. That gives the user all the controls of the device, keyboard and mouse, etc that you really need for browsers/etc but yet the big TV display. It's really clumsy to use a Bluetooth mouse, keyboard, etc. on a PC directly connected to a TV (at least for most people). Mirroring (casting) the display kind of gives you the best of both worlds, the controls you need and the display of the TV. I think it's more of a 'control' issue than an app issue.
