What (if anything) are your clients using to access "alternative" movie streaming sites instead of Plex-based channels?

I have a client who has a media PC that they use to access sites such as GorillaVid and the like, however they recently asked to be given something else to access online content due to its lack of a friendly user interface and ease of integration with C4.

I installed Plex to their AppleTVs to which they added the unsupported channels such as G2G.fm and SS-Plex.

The online content seems to be as reliable as one can expect, however they lack the ability to search for particular programs and are forced to have to scroll through page after page after page, just to look for what they HOPE may be there.

What other options are around, other than a media PC or PLEX, to access website based streaming media that isn't available via Netflix, Stan etc.?

Hulu, Amazon prime, apple tv, etc.
Is that what you're asking?
Or R U asking about torrent stuff like Kodi?

Mainly something that will give access to things like Gorillavid, Streamto, Vidzi, Vidbull, vid.me etc.

Yeah, "those" sorts of sites.

SS-Plex and G2G.fm are unsupported channels on Plex that will scrape from various sites without them having to use the PC, and gives them a reasonable user interface, but it doesn't get them the very latest a lot of the time, nor can they search.

Ideally, something that can go directly to icemovies or similar without using the PC, would be great.

Sorry, not familiar with the services you listed.
As for "those" sites -- I won't recommend them to my clients, I can't make money on them, they'll always change the way they're accessed and navigated -- in other words, I stay out of that type of conversation.

I'll connect whatever client provides and will program the controller to switch to that input, but that's as far as I'll go.
When the call comes in that the gizmo is not working, I'll ask if the TV/AVR says InputXYZ (or HDMI2, etc.). If the answer is yes, my hands are clean and issue is with client provided equipment.
Anything on this side of things is T&M with no warranties.

This is the right answer.

Really cheap Chinese made MagixBox- this thing is so bad they ripped of the Sony TV menu interface.

Movies are slow, usually there are shadows front the people at the theater from how and where they were recorded.

I have a moral issue with helping a client steal content.

Had that conversation recently. "Sir, you and I are able to pay for content if we want to watch it. Why would we want to steal something when we don't have to?"
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

We have had this conversation on here and IP before.

I have seen over a dozen of these boxes now, from $50 ones to $200 ones. And not a single one so far has had any of the (premium) stuff in anything but stereo sound (no 5.1). Sometimes the picture quality isn't that great. And the boxes are really shitting to navigate and use to start with.

ANY customer that likes to use one of these boxes, is NOT a customer of mine. That's before we even get into the whole moral issue of it.

I don't understand why one would come to a forum with many key people and business owners (here) and ask how to steal content for clients.

I can see the court documents now, "In October of 2017 you asked hundreds of professionals about digital theft"

I asked a copyright attorney the legality of streaming protected content because all these people selling these kodi boxes say streaming is legal, it’s downloading that’s illegal. He pointed out that everything actually has two copyrights. One for distribution and the other covers performance. Distribution covers the illegal downloading. But the performance is what everyone forgets. When you buy a disc, or rent a movie on iTunes, what you are paying for is the right to watch that movie. And that’s where people streaming pirated content could face penalties. The issue is it’s harder to catch.

As well you should! It is also an Ethical issue, and do not support these things at all for clients or even friends
