Those are banned in 14 states. I've seen them next to some bondage gear in some adult stores.

Oh! I was Just passing by!

Great! Just Great!

Now I have to wonder whether there really have been problems with this tester or Dave is just jerking my proverbial chain.

Thanks a lot, Dave! :-)

That reminds me Larry,
I have a set of those laying around, they quit working after about 3 weeks. I replaced it with the Test-um. That has been working great for about 2 years now.

Couple of answers to a couple of questions:
1: Why wasn't it tested before D-Day? Well as builders are known to do the cabinet wasn't ready until the last minute " But if you want to just set your stuff in we can paint around it"
2: Tester questions and suggestions. we have several sets of those exact testers (hopefully in each truck) but the b&k only terminates as rj-45 on one end unless we also order the rj45 to phoenix connector they make, which so far i haven't seen need to use but that may help the installers when it comes to terminating wires and finishing systems. Hadn't noticed it before but in my rush to troubleshoot i broke one wire going into the screw terminals which caused even more of my hair to fall out wondering why i had no feed-back @ one location.
Also I just ordered (right after cedia) a validator to try, if we order the one widget B&K makes the trim and final guys could also use this (if i ever get it)

I've had even older installers get this wrong (dislexia?)

We laminated a few diagrams... put them in a notebook and kept them in the trucks.

Unfortunately we'll all bugger something up at one time or another and the key is to keep the Company image up by not disparaging anyone in our organizations in front of the client... even when they do things like forget to run a phone line to the Tivo and you, the owner/PM on final call at 8:00 PM, are slithering around a crawlspace with a Cat5e in your teeth (at least you can cuss them out quietly down there without being heard).

OK, an update talked to newbie he didn't know
it mattered if the tab was up or down! So i must
kill the person who showed him how to do it!

Absolutely... the person who cut this guy loose on your job failed you in this case, not the new installer that thought he had been adequately trained.
If he had never been shown at all, and just assumed that to be true without bothering to ask, then he gets seriously wounded...
