I have an HDCP handshake issue with a few of these in the field after I switch from UHD to UHD HDR at 60Hz. It works fine at first but then after a while I start getting the sparkles or no picture all together. Worse, it locks up the Anthem equipment requiring a power cycle. All cables and equipment are 18Gbps certified. It happens only on Roku; I have a Sony UHD player that runs Planet earth II in UHD HDR with no problems. This is happening on three different systems. Two are LG OLED 2017 with anthem processors or receivers and Metra Velox cables and another with Integra processor and Monoprice fiber HDMI to Samsung UHD 2017. These HDMI splitters are supposed to take care of the HDCP BS but they don't do HDR at 18Gbps. Any of you guys know of an HDMI HDCP strippers that are full 18Gbps?

I am thinking of trying the Metra HDM-GA1 gigabit accelerator; any of you guys tried it with Roku?

I don’t think the HDM-GA1 is the right tool for this but the HDM-AIO would be.

I don't think you have a HDCP problem, you have a Roku Ultra which sets it's chroma subsampling to 4:4:4 when you engage HDR. The Sony BD player doesn't do that because UHD content is 4:2:0.

What happens if you connect the Roku directly to the display with a 3 foot cable?

Sadly the Roku has been a real problem for many over the past 6 months when connected thru an AVR or switch/matrix.
We have not found a consistent solution for this product except to swap it out with either the NVidia Shield Pro (supports damn near everything) or the AppleTV 4K.

Seriously?
I finally jump on the Roku bandwagon

And now I'm kicked to the curb?

Time for a new profession.

The LG OLED shows HDR with Planet Earth II UHD and the Sony UHD has 4:4:4 as an option in the menu. If I force it to output 4:4:4 for testing would it up convert 4:2:0 UHD?

Should I try the HDM-AIO or it won't help? The Roku Ultra works perfect at UHD; it starts acting up only when you enable HDR. It works fine the first few times you power cycle the system and then it starts acting up. Restarting fixes it for a bit and then it is all over again.

I have seen the same problem. The Roku Pushes 4:4:4 causing problems. There is no way to adjust the settings in the Roku. Everything is done via EDID. Can't wait for the AppleTV 4k....ugh....I also have been doing tons of Roku's due to their better UI, more apps, Amazon, our cable provider is only on Roku, and IP Control. I just wish I could change some settings. I have also had issues when putting the Roku into a matrix. It sees surround sound somewhere, then it goes into surround sound and none of your TV's work. Then you have to reset the Roku. I did find a way where you can force PCM through HDMI. It fixes the problem, but then any surround sound zones don't get Digital surround sound. I have literally install hundreds of the Roku4's and never had these problems. I keep having issues with the Roku Premier, Roku Ultimate, etc. Plus IR control is garbage on the new Roku's. Why is it so hard for someone to keep making a good piece of equipment. I actually just bought 6 of the Roku4's on clerance from New Egg. Just wish they had HDR....What a pain.

Eureka! The "Double secret probation" HDMI Roku menu allows to change from the default 4:2:2 to 4:2:0. It works on my home setup; will try it next week in the client's homes. I can now watch Netflix in HDR on the Zone 2 HDMI output from the Integra Preamp; before it would disable HDR.

Those codes work great if you have a 2nd gen Roku Premium, Premeire, or Ultra. The first Gen ones had a weird problem with repeats. There are still a bunch flating around retailers that it can make it difficult to spec something in, and it may or may not work.

Is anyone having similar problems with 3rd Gen AppleTV? I got a text from a client stating that they had audio at their 2nd home (that's a three hour drive from here) but no video using the ATV and when I pressed the Menu button for the AVR, that didn't show, either. I installed a Denon AVR-X4300H in June and the projector is a Vivitek H5080 and the HDMI is Vanco Redmere, which I'm hearing doesn't work with 4K, HDR, etc. I set the AVR to output 1080p and turned off HDMI control and anything else that I could find which would cause this kind of bullshit. A couple of weeks ago, she had the same problem with the ATV, but could see video from the AVR and BD.

I started working for these people almost eleven years ago and at their local home and at that time, I specifically avoided using HDMI because, as I told him, "It's too new and I want to see what kinds of problems it will have". ELEVEN YEARS LATER, and we have more problems than ever!

What other weird and wonderful surprises will they have for us?
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

Giving up on Roku HDR through the processor. Even with 4:2:0 I'm still getting frame dropouts on the client's system. I'll just run another HDMI to the TV(1.5" flex conduit) and optical to the processor.

Wait until you try getting one to work reliably through an hdbaset matrix. Roku’s are garbage, their chipset and fw is garbage.

Funny, I've had nothing but perfect installations out of the Roku's I have installed. Much better than the crap AppleTV puts out.
I have never sent one thru a HDBaseT matrix before, but plenty of HDBaseT extenders.
