Are standards set up enough yet to go ahead and get one? If so, which one? the early adopters didnt get HDR on many machines is my understanding. Thats now been resolved? Any other issues? Wait?

have you seen streaming 4k? Not near as good as a bluray. but yes, many still watch disks. remember, there are still no folks on 5mbps ISP. Thank God Im no longer that, but just happened this year.

Hard to beat a bluray, cept now with 4k bluray.

Anyone know if you use that 2nd HDMI out, will it keep its 4k going in the first HDMI? Or will it only do the resolution of whatever is attached to HDMI 2? Would be nice to have the HDMI 1 go to theater with full audio codecs, then HDMI 2 go to a matrix.

Yeah.

Where we live we have internet service at a blistering 5 Mbs - on a good day.

So streaming is iffy.

Bummer, looking at Oppo website, the HDMI 2 is audio only. That sucks.

Why? That's what JAP is for.
You seen any players that can do that?

2nd HDMI being audio only has been SOP for a decade now.

I can't remember the last time our BluRay was used.
Maybe 3-4 years!

3 ROKU'S on a matrix switch keeps the family happy when there isn't anything they want to watch on sat.

Even with a whopping 12 mps, (the ONLY downside to rural living),I can still listen to Pandora when everyone is streaming a movie without issues.

Granted,it's not 4k but I'm the only one in the house that appreciates the clarity and I don't watch that much TV!
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!

Proud to say that my property is protected by a high speed wireless device!

In my home it's all about the audio. You cant beat uncompressed audio from an optical disc. I stream alot of Netflix and I have a latge Vudu library but you can't beat a Blu Disc for audio video performance. If you're listening to Dolby digital +, you're missing out.

depends what world we are discussing.
"I want to waste some time while I am on my phone" then no streaming is good enough.
"I am willing to spend 6 figures because I want to have an amazing movie watching experience " then absolutely yes. The only way to get anywhere near the same quality is Kaleidescape DL (and then you lose portability which is important to our clients since they tend to have more than one place) or possibly illegal DL (and if that is what they want to do I can't help or support them)

Don't tell my clients I said this, but I don't care about 4K. I'm still fine with a good quality 480 picture. Maybe it's from growing up having to turn the antenna to get a good enough picture so that the ghost images weren't too distracting.

fins lol, surely you jest.
I cant watch a non hi def pic anymore. I will turn the station!

Now, 4k vs 1080? Im with ya, dont care about 4k just yet. 99% of the viewing distances of tvs you cant tell the difference between 1080 and 4k anyway. Now, looking at an LG oled, oh ya, you can tell that.

For me, now, 4k is over hyped, but wont go away like 3d curved TVs.
