What chroma subsampling types must an HDMI link support in order to "properly" carry HDR content (i.e. HDR10 or Dolby Vision?)
For example, can an HDMI extender that only supports 4K/60hz with 10 bit color at 4:2:0 be used with an HDR source - like the new Apple TV - and properly carry HDR content to a display? Thanks.

Chroma subsampling determines color resolution. As such, it has nothing to do with depth of those samples or their encoding (i.e. HDR). As Lowhz mentioned, 4:2:0 coding remains for color sampling vs luminance as with all other consumer delivery formats for video.

If you have a high quality HDR display, how much loss in PQ do you see if the link from source to display is limited to 4:2:0? I imagine it depends on the source - for example, I believe Blu-ray is mastered at 4:2:0?
