I have a client that wants an LG OLED (he heard "good things" about them). I recommended the Sony XBR75940E and he came back with asking about the LG OLED.
I didn't find much talk on RC, other than mounting issues on the LG OLED.
Looking for some feedback on the pros and cons of either brand or OLED in general. As far as I know it'll be used for DirecTV (possibly 4K receiver?) and some gaming, etc.

I have been involved in the last twp TV shootouts during the CE Weeks show in New York.
In both cases the LG OLED won with the best picture.
However..........
Room brightness is very important.
IF: The room is dark always and there will be no daylight viewing pick OLED (I like the Sony for the control capability).
IF: There will be Daylight or mixed viewing pick the LED (Personal preference is the "Z" series as it has the best blacks that I have seen on an LED display).

In any case this is where you to have an ISF calibration done, with this level of display it does make a difference.

The "Z"'s have the longest brightness range. The OLED's have delicious blacks and the widest viewing angles, but be sure to turn ON the room lights at some point. If there is a scene shot inside a room that shows a view through a window to a daylight landscape the "Z" handles this nicely -- other sets, usually not.  Also, look at the shadow detail.

Each type of set is "better" in its own way.

The G6 panel is the same panel in the Sony. Personally I like the Sony. This is like choosing between a Mclaren P1 and a Porsche 918. Both a great, both perform better than anything out in the market, and you will be very happy with either. After the poor treatment I received from LG's support on a large commercial job, their issues with their service centers, and diminishing margins, I have chosen to stick with Sony.

I have a project with Sony oled, Z series and more basic Sony xbr models.
The Z series hands down is the overall best, especially when dealing with motion.
Yes the oled has better blacks but watch something with action and the Z shows why it's better

I agree with the others, Z9D all the way. For having essentially zero downside it looks phenomenal and would be perfectly fine in almost any application.
