Does anybody know what is the correct way to input codes into the pronto with the hex values that are supplied by the manufacturer.

Ex Code(hex) 01 Code(binary) 00000001

Do I input both the hex and binary as 01 00000001
or do I just put in the hex 00000001

Also is there something I have to configure different in the pronto IR section.

Thanks

It is a little more complicated than that. The hex values the manufacturer is supplying you with may or may not be pronto hex. Hexadecimal is a way of notating 16 bits with a single character each (0-9 then a-f corresponding to decimal 0-15).

If you are interested in translating the hex and binary info you have into Pronto Hex, try Barry Gordon's IR document in this website's Pronto Files section. It is in the subfolder for utilities and manuals, I beleive.

There is also the possibility that Theta is using Philips RC5 or RC6 codes, not binary and hexadecimal. RC5 codes have a two digit system code and a two digit command code. Can you post an example of their definition of an IR code?

Yes you are correct the codes are for

Remote System" Phillips RC5
System address: 10 hex (00010000 binary) (5 bit system Address)

Ex.

Button 1 = code (hex) 01 Code (binary) 00000001

So what do i do to get this into the pronto ?

Thanks

Enable Developer mode. Daniel of remotecentral has created a wonderful little program to do this for you. You can download it here:

[Link: remotecentral.com]

Once you have downloaded and installed it, enable developer mode.

Open ProntoEdit and a button you want to program, hit SET IR, then the Advanced button to reveal the RC5/6 code generator.

Leave the radio buttons on RC5.

There are two windows in the RC5 generator, one for system address, always use 10.

For the command code, convert the binary to base ten and enter.

Finished code entry in ProntoEdit should look like this:

[C]RC5 10 1
