Anyone here ever tried renting a car through this company?

Works somewhat like AIRBnB, but you're renting a car.

Wife and I are going to The Grand Ole Opry next month, flying for free compliments of Delta airlines, spend two nights in a AIRBnB place, and do need a car, so I'm looking at this instead of the "normal" car rental places, since they are crazy high.

The cheapest car rental at the airport is double the cost.

Would consider Uber, but that would end up costing about the same in the long run, and will leave us without a way to run around playing tourist...

we tried it when we went to seatle. 12 hours before we were supposed to get the car the person cancelled on us and turo was unable to place us in a car in the remaining time.

thank GOD for amex and their travel portal, rented through alamo with a full size car upgrade for less then it was going to cost us for turo. otherwise it was going to be a $900 car rental fee for last minute economy.

also, heads up! if you use a CC that offers rental car insurance turo is not included in that category.

Never understood the need for cc rental car insurance or the offering from the rental car company. My own vehicle insurance covers it. Why fuss with anything else? Are their personal policies that dont cover rental cars?

Supposed to be a sort of retro show covering a lot of the old songs...

Statler Brothers are coming out of retirement?

Costcotravel has $135 for a minivan or $150 for an intermediate. Being a month out - they are rather high still. Costcotravel for rental cars usually drops very low a few days before. For example Tomorrow 6pm to Saturday 9pm is only $62 for a full size car. (All fees taxes INCLUDED).

As someone who travels a lot and has used all rental car options - nothing beats CostcoTravel. If you aren't a costco member - a costco member can just make the reservation for you.

Turo sounds like trouble just waiting to happen!!!

Uber is pretty damn nice. you dont have to worry about parking, navigating, etc. most of the drivers will be able to tell you a few things you may not know. we ubered and metro'd exclusively in DC and it couldnt have been better.

that being said, we normally always rent. enterprise almost always, but SIXT in phoenix/vegas. sixt was pretty cool and i feel priced decent. they did play the old switcheroo. i think we were supposed to get an x5 and all the had was a mercedes gla. that thing was TINY.
I love supporting product that supports me!

Used Turo in Chicago a year ago. Rented a BMW Z4 vert manual for about $10 more/day than the price of a Hyundai sedan from Budget. Was great.

Ask your agent how much that policy is costing you. You might be paying 10-30 bucks a month just to have it. Add that up over years and that’s a staggering amount. Agents tend to throw in pork you don’t need to pad their commission. I can’t blame them, 99.9% of people just nod their head and assume that’s the norm.

I do a yearly review with my agent(s) and have pulled that amount out. Rental car insurance is covered by my CC free of charge so why pay for it twice?

It always cracks me up with the insurance company paying for a rental car when your car is in an accident. Pull that one out and you save $22 bucks a month. Add that up over years and the rare instance you are in an accident you can self cover your self and still be ahead.

The incidental insurance at the kiosks have always cracked me up. But I can’t blame the rental car companies, they scare the unknowing into thinking they are hosed without it.

FYI Amex is awesome about the insurance. You can an extra year warranty on pretty much anything with a cord. I had my Nespresso machine take a dump 2 days after warranty expired. Called Amex and they credited me the amount I paid for the machine. Was a 5 minute phone call, it would have been 45-60 minutes with sur la table if I had purchased their warranty. CC cards are there for you and make it a lot easier. I’m sure an accident on the rental car would be no different. I rather deal with them then my personal insurance company and or the rental car insurance.

What insurance policies cover "loss of use"? Does Amex do that?

Turo is $58.00 for airport pickup at 9pm Wed and 5am Fri, and there will be a $25.00 discount for first time user.

Hard to beat $33.00 and gas.

I figure it's worth a shot.
