I'll say I was more than interested when I first saw something about it. But today I learned it's only available on CBS All access. If you want to watch it, you have to subscribe to the CBS streaming service. What idiots are running the major networks?

The ones with $ signs for eye balls.

And what the heck is up with the entire race of Klingons? I mean I totally understand then dramatic change from the TOS and to the way the looked in the movies then TNG and later. But for this new series they look totally different again.

At first the showing only on All Access made me mad, but I knew I’ll subscribe to it to watch. But then I discovered the fact about the major change of the Klingons, now I’m not interested in it.

I look at the latest change with the Klingons like the change with the uniforms/starship/controls etc. Its just a real world style/available technology adjustment and not party of the story.

Eh, I'll just watch The Orville as my new Trek show. It's free.

Also... Unless something has changed in the last few months, CBS streaming does NOT do multi channel audio = no surround sound.

I can get full HD with 5.1 sound from my local antenna for free. But CBS wants me to pay $9.99 per month, for their crappy streaming service with only 'stereo' sound.
Sorry, I can't dumb myself down enough to be that stupid.

If you have Netflix, it'll be on there. Whomever at CBS thinks people are going to pay $10 a month to watch this show are just stupid.

Now there is a reason for me to jump down from the fence. Onto the “not happening” side.

Major Trekkie here, currently raising my 6 yo daughter on Enterprise and DS9, super excited about this series, even with the "Abrams alternate time line" aesthetics.... But NOT going to shell out $10 /month for one show and no 5.1...
Sorry CBS, I'm a fan of both the franchise and the network, but this is stupid.

I am a bit split. I loved TOS, NG, Voyager and DS9 and a bit less Enterprise and their films. To me SW (always have been a fan) was eye candy and a space opera while ST was Sci-fi allegorical or Sci-fi intellectual and I loved each one for what it brought to the table.

The new ST films I don't like them because they where just dumb space operas and I was not getting what I wanted out of them. Having it on CBS All access makes me think it might be more of a cash grab (like the new films) and that has me worried that it might be closer to the new films then what it should be.

But I am still planning on giving it a chance

Here in Canada it is picked up by CTV and it will be shown OTA. So if anyone is in Canada, near the border or has access to Canadian networks you don't need CBS All access to watch it

I remember an interview where someone from CBS stated that they don’t want to sink the money into a new ST series. Nor did they want to sink the money into making DS9 and Voyager HD.

Well we’re a week or so away from the premier of a new ST series...

Perhaps we’re not too far off for DS9 and Voyager in HD too.

One can boldly dream of course.

I'm a Kirk and Spock fan. I love TOS and the original movies. I like TNG, even though I never thought Picard is as good as Kirk. When TNG ended and DS9 came out, I couldn't ever get into it. Voyager did little for me because I don't care for a The Fugitive style story line. Maybe this week we catch the real killer/find our way home. I do like the new films and have no problem with the alternate time line.

From the trailers I've seen, Discovery looks like it may have the same qualities that I like in TOS. But I'm done with extra services. I'm not paying $10 a month to watch one show.

Took me a while to watch Voyager, but found that I enjoyed it above all the others. Just found the story and characters the most enjoyable.

We like the weeknight line-up on the OTA H&I network from 7-midnite.

I came into this game for the action, the excitement. Go anywhere, travel light, get in, get out, wherever there's AV trouble, a man alone.

OK, I'm completely jealous. If they had a streaming service, I'd gladly give $10 a month for that.

I was a diehard Star Trek fan. I saw the fan film Prelude to Axanar. It promised a unique new story line. Paramount crushed it. Now I don't care if I never see another Ater Trek rehash again ( they're all rehashes now).

To boldly go where no one has gone before - except for the Star Treks studios whose mantra is To repeat the formula and plot lines over and over and over and over ....
