Dealers are reporting that they can see other OVRC devices right now. Tomorrow may be a bad morning to take up to so make sure to check your accounts.

Hey guys,

We had a small incident last night, which lasted for a few hours between 10pm EST to 1:15am EST.

Here is what happened:

Following a few backend server enhancements we were doing to further improve the reliability of OvrC, we misconfigured a server component that is responsible for making the Bulk Add feature work on your app. So instead of seeing the unclaimed devices on just your locations, you were seeing thousands of unclaimed devices on one of the many servers your location was connected to.

The impact to dealers:

This unusual experience lasted from 10pm EST to 1:15am EST. During this time, about 16 dealers claimed one or more devices on OvrC that could not have been one of their own. Please rest assured, however, that this did NOT impact any devices that were already claimed.

What are we doing about it:

We disabled the Bulk Add feature at 1:15am EST and fully resolved & validated the issue by 3:30am EST. For the 16 dealers that have claimed any device on OvrC during the exposed period, we are thoroughly reviewing their activities and working directly with them to take any appropriate action, if necessary.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please reach out to [email protected].

Sincerely,

The OvrC Team
Kenny Kim

Thanks for the explanation. Not often manufacturers communicate not only the issue but what and how. Mucho appreciated. No big deal.

Plus the speed in which you responded and were open about the problem was great. Unlike a certain credit bureau who had execs sell off their stock before making their breach public...

Yes indeed Greg. They needed to get to another country and quick.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.
