Outstanding attention to detail. Just amazing.

What brand/model ceiling fans? They don't look like pull-chain fans.

They look like Big Ass Fans, Haiku model.

Could be wrong though. A bunch of different manufacturers are starting to make them look like that.

With 'SenseMe' functionality? Controlled with HW, toggle on/off, speed controlled with app?

Fans have been a thorn in my side for some time.

Great work as always. How do you feel about the geofencing, it seems to me it could be annoying if someone is already home and it activates the welcome scene, etc or do you use the setting where it asks to run the scene before hand?

I wonder how many times you had to modify the proposal because of technology changes from when you started.

Fans have been a thorn in my side for some time.

The fans were purchased early on in the project and in storage for over 2 years so they are older models with the IR remotes.

Original plan was to take the guts out of the fans and use Lutron fan speed control RPM.  The electrical contractor and I spent half a day dissecting one.  These are complex fans so while it could have probably been done, it wasn't as simple as just removing a speed control unit like most less expensive fans have.

The electrician and contractor were also concerned about modifying the fans and nullifying the UL listing.  In the end, they were just switched with a relay module RPM to turn them on & off from the Lutron keypads and app.  Client has a remote hidden in drawer in each room if they want to change speed or rotation... the fans remember the last known setting when power is cut.

Hopefully the newer fans with SenseME and Alexa/Nest integration will open up some future integration options...

You're correct that the Geofencing home/away feature doesn't allow for any conditional logic which is a real bummer.

My work-around was to use a QSE-IO module.  I wired a relay output right back into an input on the same unit.

When Geofencing activates a home event, it doesn't trigger an actual lighting scene, it just closes the relay.  When the relay closes, that triggers the input on the QSE-IO module and that's what I apply my conditional logic to.

I don't remember all the details, but when HWQS see that input close, it changes a home/away variable to "home" which alters some time clock events and also turns on some lights, but only if it's dark outside.

With this simple setup, it's working really well.  The house automatically goes into home mode and the client's never arrive to a dark house.

Without doing something like this the Geofencing feature isn't very useful...

Here's the video I submitted as part of my Lutron Excellence award entry this year.  I've won two previous Lutron awards including Project of the Year last year, but didn't win this year.  The level of projects entered this year were astounding... I think 5-6 of the 12 awards went to projects from other countries.

Our very own audiox99 won best commercial project with a very cool 58,000 sq ft mixed use building!

Just curious how you are panning the camera in your video. Is it just done by manipulating a stationary video position, or are you actually panning the camera/phone.

Cool

Since you've done a lot of lighting, what have you discovered as far as keypad button layouts?

What do people seem to appreciate, and what is lost on them in terms of scene buttons etc.

I think there have been some threads on this recently, but might have been over on one of the other forums.

I just keep it simple, most rooms/areas have a "Lights On" button at the top and a "Lights Off" button on the bottom.  The "Lights On" isn't everything to 100%, but sets lights in that area to the most used scene.

Other buttons might be dedicated to individual loads, pathways or scenes.  I also do lots of HomeWorks integration so I end up with buttons for fans, infrared heaters, electric skylights, electric windows, electric sliding doors, fireplace/firepit, water features, pool control, Sonos control, etc.  I've even integrated Lutron controls to automate the rotation of a sculpture.
