I have a client that has an Apple TV 3rd generation in a closet.
Both the Apple TV remote and the URC remote were working fine until the client interrupted my service call and got Apple Support involved in a password issue she had and during the call they reset the Apple TV. She always does shxt like this where I come out for one thing and she interrupts me to fiddle with something else in the system but usually I don't mind and bill her for my wasted time. This time Apple TV stopped responding to either remote. The white light flashes on the Apple TV using either remote but nothing changes with the screen saver on the Apple TV.
I'm thinking it's a pairing issue that may have occurred when the client played with the Apple TV.
In all my years with installing A/V I've never had this issue so please don't flame.

Thanks!

I use Apple TV (4th Gen) as my main source for TV.  You're right it sounds like it's been unpaired....But you don't "need" to pair the apple TV to get it to work with the URC  IR codes.

That being said...I've been having a similar issue with my 4th Gen. It's not in a closet, I can see it from the couch.   When I press the button, the white light flashes, but no love. (I'm using the apple TV remote).

The fix for me is to unplug and plug back in. To give you an idea, I've had to do this 4-6 times in the last month or two.

I've also been experiencing a problem where the specific app..will open, but it's just go grey screen.

I've tried power cycling several times but no luck.
Of course the client blames me even though she was the one messing with the menus with Apple Support :(

I second that, Of course there are lots of variables like if they pout when you charge for the time. Beyond that it's a matter of people screwing up your schedule and wondering why it takes you so long to get back boo hoo.

I agree with you both.
