Hi guys,

Just finished a quick article about Google warnings starting in October.  You can read it here. Google Warning Article

If you're a business owner and have a website, and it's not currently using  SSL certificates (https:) You need to deal with this a.s.a.p Google is going to start warning visitors that your website isn't secure in October, which isn't going to help you close the deal.

You've got a month to get the issue resolved.  I put together a deal for the RC and IP members. I'd estimate it to be a $2-300 value depending on the site.  Do yourself a favor and take me up on the offer.

Offer is good through Sept 4th.

Nobody wants their site to get blacklisted by Google.

I would guess this does not apply to the sites you have made for some of us?

It absolutely does apply.  Some of my clients are still http://  I'll be changing them over before the transition.

Firefox has been showing me that many sites aren't secure and it then displays the log in name at the bottom of the warning. This has only happened when cookies have been removed.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

Great example would be this site and your link where warning will pop up.

It's a little early for my brain this morning, but I think you're asking for an example. As far as we know right now, it'll be something like this. But I've heard that the font could be in red.

In RC's example below, the site isn't secure because you can't see https:// in the address bar.

Ironically, here's IPro's.  It's already showing a form of the warning.  Not sure if this will turn red in October, but I think the odds are pretty good.

Here's my site using https://  You can also see why the rumor is that NOT SECURE will be in red, because they already have SECURE in green.

And here's where it gets a bit complicated. If you're currently using http:// all of your images look like this...http:/yoursite.com/images/yourimage.  but they need to be changed to this.. https:/yoursite.com/images/yourimage.  There are tools to do it, but they never get everything. In that case, you get "mixed content". So, you need to go through line by line and fix them, depending on the amount of images etc. you have on your site it can be time consuming to say the least.

Hope that helps!

You guys prompt me to go and finally get this done. Not sure to thank you or not but it cost me $45/year to do it.

Hasbeen is correct that if you have any http references in there, Chrome marks the whole thing as not secure. Fortunately for the forum part of my site, it was only my logo and it was an easy fix. For the technical portal, it is auto generated by an extension and unfortunately it is full of http. So I may have to move away from that.

SEO optimization is important for my forum but I am not sure it matters much for standard company web site that is not selling anything.

There is a service called Let's Encrypt.  It came out of beta about a year ago or so, it provides SSL certs free. Sorry couldn't help Amirm, but maybe others can use it.

I have enlisted Paul's help on several issues i was having and this guy hands down blew me away with his thoroughness and follow thru. His prices are some of the best out there and he answered every question i had in nauseating detail (a great thing).
He knows our business and our customer's habits like few others. Look forward to further work together.

You're right, but so are TLS certs.  However, it's  non-issue as you just set it up the certbot to renew.
