So customer had two post racks already in place in a dedicated equipment room.

Walls are all plywood.

One post of the rack is 3 inches from the wall, other post is 3" from the other rack and then matching two post rack.

So matching two post racks. Wall then 3" then rack 3' then rack 3" then wall.

Problem is there is nothing to attach the wires to coming out the back of the equipment.

Other then the side wall, but no support getting to the wall. Most equipment has rack ears and is not on shelves.

Ideas to support wires behind the racks but keep the space to get into to work.

Maybe something on the sides close to the rail.

MA makes hardware that attaches left to right across the back of the rack that has slots for attaching cable ties.

At the very least, screw ties -- cable ties that end in a hole large enough for a #10 screw-- can attach to the back posts, supporting the wires.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Im not following the existing gear layout bery well. A drawing would be better.

Mentioned above lacer bars will help support cables going into equipment.

If you need to go from one rack to another use cable ladders. Route all cables up one aide or the other in your rack then across the cable ladser then back down to the post rack or other rack.

he is saying the equipment hangs way deep off the rear. it is a two post IT rack. that sucks!!!

maybe finger duct mounted to the left and right of each side of the rack. your cables could swoop left or right out of the equipment, head towards the front of the equipment and hop into the finger duct
I love supporting product that supports me!

Panduit makes some vertical managers that have standoffs on them so that you can recess them a bit. I have custom made my own standoffs so that they recess as much as the deepest piece of equipment. Really the only choice.

It's going to be tough to make a nice looking AV install using 2 post racks.  Do you have any equipment that needs support from rear rails like rack mount UPS?

If the client wants a nice clean looking installation you might try convincing him to replace the racks with something that's more appropriate for AV gear.

Another idea would be to add more of the 2 post racks behind the existing ones so you have rear support rails for attaching equipment and traditional lace bars.  You could even get creative and make a side panel on the end rack to hide the wiring.

I didn't really understand your description of the layout... if the racks are only 3ft away from the wall, it's going to get tight accessing from behind.

Yes. There mounted to the posts with extra mounting plates that go under the equipment so they're not supported by the rack ears.

Original install was over 300K and was crap. We're almost 100K so I'm trying to work with thing that he already has.

With the equipment there is about 2.5' behind the rack to access them.

We're actually going to make our own support for the equipment and wiring from raw metal welded together and bolted to the side wall, floor, ceiling and two post rack. I'll try to get pictures when it's done.

And that's going to be cheaper than 2 new 4-post AV racks?

Racks are bolted into the floor in 4 places and equipment is already loaded into them. So yes it's going to be cheaper. Also say hi to Tony and Tony for me.
