Just a note:
Sim2 saying ANY of their projectors are 'reliable' is like listening to the prostitute tell you she is a virgin. Bunch of Bull S%^*!
Sim2 made some really nice performing projectors. But reliable they ain't! Much like many Italian things for some reason.

I've said the exact same thing.

Have you tried setting 'Monitor Check' to 'Skip' in the advanced menu? I know this has helped solve some HDMI problems with Yamaha receivers in the past.

Also, make sure TV Format is NTSC in the advanced menu. It is usually defaulted to that but a long time ago I ran into a similar problem when it was set to PAL.

I missed the monitor check idea. Wish I had seen that just to try. I tried different projector, different cables, and different Balun. Finally, we tried a different AVR. Two weeks of randomly checking it and the problem seems to have been solved. I called Sim, ethereal, and Yamaha. The AVR was last on everyone’s list.
