I'm Not an engineer, but I play one on TV.
My handle is Tweety but I have nothing to do with the organization of similar name. I just had a really big head as a child so folks called me tweety bird.

Doorbird's app update adds better zone / motion control. The stainless steen doorbirds are much better quality than the plastic ones.

I like the doorbirds but then again, I use mostly the flush models. I only use the less expensive surface models when there is no other option.

Also... don't rely on the relay alone as they do have amperage limits. If you have a high draw electrified lock, you may need to use the relay out to trigger a secondary relay.

Also, don't forget that you can TOTALLY guarantee that you won't exceed the relay's current limits by using a transistor in open collector mode.

When we wire up relays, we go directly from a power supply through a set of metal contacts. A mistake can end up in things being fried, really bad if the fried thing is inside the "doorbell." If we use a transistor instead, we can easily make a circuit that will keep anything from blowing up if there's a short circuit, while having it work properly. Unfortunately this approach is one step into "science project" territory, but it can be really helpful.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
