My ThinkPad has some kind of problem that makes it take forever to store a file in CCP. Nobody has been able to suggest anything I might do to troubleshoot it, so maybe it's just trash.

What's your suggestion for a laptop just for programming RTI and URC? I'd like at least a 14" screen, but hey, what do you suggest?

I hate mouses and trackpads and would far rather have a trackpoint or pointing stick, aka nipple mouse, so that would matter.

Thanks.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

What do you want to spend? If you are okay with apx $1000 go with the Lenovo L Series.

You will need to upgrade the Hard Drive to SSD and that will make either model apx $1000 [Link: www3.lenovo.com]

I just ordered a new E570 and was able to get the i7, 256gig SSD, 16 Gigs of Ram, and the 1920x1080 screen and it was under a grand. ANd it has the nipple mouse as well.

I said it in another thread, but it worked for me so I'll mention it again: check out certified pre-owned laptops from IBM. You can google "IBM certified pre-owned" to see what they have.

I heard about this from a friend who works for IBM, so I was able to get an extra percentage off because of him, but anyone can buy the stuff. On top of that, I think they may have made a mistake and sent me a unit with a Retina display. I got a 15" 2012 MacBook Pro with an SSD (I forget the size) for $760, and I've been using it for nearly 2 years now. I put Parallels on it with Windows 10 and use it for URC stuff all the time, as well as Crestron, Lutron and pretty much whatever else requires Windows.

They have a bunch of stuff on there, so I think it's worth checking out. I didn't want to buy new because it *is* a field computer and things do happen. I am super careful with this thing though, since it's much nicer than what thought I'd end up with.
