I have a Denon AVR-X3200W as part of a control4 system

One of my inputs is a Hikvision NVR (security cameras), since there is no audio I thought it would be nice to listen to the radio while I watch cameras so I hooked up an internet radio feed to the analog input 5 (and coax input 1) I then went to input assign and next to the HDMI input I added the analog input for the digital radio.

When I turned on the NVR I got no audio.

So for giggles I removed the HDMI 3 from the input assign and BAM! Audio can be clearly heard, I also set the CD input to coax 1 and yes I could also hear audio.

However, whenever I tried to add the HDMI to the input Assign the audio stops on both inputs...I'm at a loss, I'm going to check if there's an option in the NVR for audio over HDMI but I assumed the Denon managed this. Could someone shed some light on the situation?

UPDATE: NVR had audio disabled by default, so I enabled it for no good reason. It doesn't work. But I had the audio playing on the input and I could hear it in the theatre, as soon as I plugged in the HDMI cable it stopped... wheres the pounding my head against the wall emoticon?

I'm not all that familiar with that line so I looked at the manual and see this may apply:

[Link: manuals.denon.com]

If I'm reading that correctly it seems you can set the audio input mode to be your analog (or digital) input while on your NVR's HDMI input.

So if you goto the input assign screen first and set, for instance, AUX1 to be HDMI 3 and Analog 5, I would think that if you configure that input per the link above to have Aux 1 audio source be analog that when you switch to Aux 1 you will get the HDMI video and the audio from the analog input from your streaming service.

That worked, I changed the input mode from auto to analog and I can now hear it, weird that it didn't select it properly through the auto feature...Thanks a million!

Likely because the Denon is choosing based on audio priority. HDMI taking precedence due to "better quality" or shorter path, much like C4 does.

999k will suffice :-)
