FYI, the Clare Video Doorbell has been working well for us and we have around 10 in the field right now. And we no complaints from clients. It uses the Clarevision Plus app and no router settings need to be done.

They connect via 2.4 ghz wifi and use the existing doorbell power wire. So it's a great retro fit device.

The box comes with decent instructions and a resistor in case it's needed for some doorbells. It also comes with 4 different colored covers.

I am haven't installed the Ring before so, I can't compare the 2

Have you integrated this into a nvr yet? I'm being told it will work with any onvif nvr.

I think it's ridiculous that in 2017 (almost 2018) we don't have a single solution that would allow visitor at the gate or front door to ring the bell and have these happen:
- Record video to DVR/NVR
- Show live video on Control4 touch screen
- Allow homeowner to communicate (intercom) 2-way from touchscreen
- Allow homeowner to communicate (intercom) 2-way from analog house phones
- Allow homeowner to communicate (intercom) 2-way from smartphone app
- Allow homeowner to buzz visitor in from within the app (touchscreen & smartphone) as well as analog phone
- Have visitor use a code(s) to open gate/door and have Control4 act differently (automation of lights, notification, etc.) based on which code was used.

I am correct, right? No solution exist today to address all those, right?

They exist already for everything you listed except integration into analog phones. Unfortunately, I don't ever see that happening considering most of the doorbell solutions use SIP for communication.

Now I'm sure there are products that can be used with analog systems that can pulse a relay using the dial pad, but to do this with today's video doorbells, seems to be a hodge-podge of products slapped together to attempt to get it to work.

Doorbird gets my vote for video doorbells. My only complaint is the 2 video stream limit, but there are ways to be creative to work around that limitation, especially for in home use.

What exists that meets Mario’s requirements? Aside from analog (that’s fine) nothing checks off all of those boxes, INCLUDING C4s raunchass door station.

It is SO frustrating to have a product that hits 2-3 of those but not all of them. We are integrators for Christ’s sake and we can’t offer this and ONE APP to our customers. Right now to have two way talk with a C4 System from a smartphone is to use a 3rd party solution THEN go back to C4s app to unlock the door. Absolutly rediculous.

Holovision w/DoorBird integrated unit does all but the analog phone.

We use Clare NVRs , which are made by Hik. But we haven't used a non Clare NVR on our jobs.

Agreed, that nothing checks all of the boxes. That's why I said the Doorbird does all but the analog phones. I can lock/unlock door from either the doorbird app or c4 touchscreen. That is programming done on the doorbird within composer.

The holovison/doorbird unit has allowed the use of a keypad for code punching for a while now.

Doorbird is soon to release their own version of a doorbell/keypad shortly.

Personally, I don't mind using the doorbird app for 2-way av integration, when I'm away. Like I said, if you need to unlock a door, that is possible and has been since release.

At home though, very rarely do I need to speak with someone at my door through my app or C4 system. The bell rings and I have 3 little cuties running to the door as fast as possible to get it.

The only box that doesn't get ticked is the analog phone integration, which can be done by programming/using the phone system relay outputs to another box and maybe another box that would tie into the system. As said before, it gets clunky and not really the way we would want things to be.

Now, if you put the sales hat on and changed the phone system from analog to VoIP/SIP based, then you could do all that you're asking.

as for the C4 DS2, never even thought twice about it. It doesn't do what it should have done from the get go.

Even if they finally release their own app for intercom, it still will be a separate app for intercom and most likely won't be tied into the normal app.
