got a question for you pros.......on the yamaha Z1 receiver..........it has 3 component inputs and of course 1 comp out, for monitor..........does this receiver differentiate between 1080i and 480i?? like hd dss/cable.....and ps2/dvd......or should I go solo with the different 480i/1080i.....?

The amp will pass both signals it is up to the tv to decide which it's going to use.

Only issue is bandwidth. I believe the Z1 is rated at 60 MHz - way plenty. Component switching works fine on the older Yamaha's at 25 MHz.

And don't you mean 480p? Does anybody watch 480i anymore?
