Walked into a cluster. Some of the poorest work I've ever seen. Client has Pioneer elite with the control box remotely located. TV has died and of course the proprietary cable is all that's run.

I cannot pull new cables without significant damage to walls and ceilings. New TV will be a Sony 55" 850E panel. At one time I thought there was an adapter we could use. I seem to recall you can't just take a regular DVI to HDMI either. I know what ever we do it won't be 4K

Is my client hosed? Pursueing wireless as an option but i think the distance is just to far away.

Since the Pioneer cable's length is probably less than 50', why would a wireless HDMI be unable to transmit the signal over that distance?

Are you sure? I thought you could. There's no audio even if you could.

the dvi to hdmi adaptors are passive devices, and inexpensive. Consider trying them, and having your customer pay for them with the understanding that 1. It will not be 4k, 2. that the display will upconvert to 4k with all the related discussion 3. It may or many not work, due to bandwidth and distance issues. I would not suggest wireless hdmi, personally.

The electrical characteristics of DVI and HDMI are the same. When using an HDMI/DVI or DVI/HDMI mechanical adapter the HDMI Audio/Video will work. Now the real question is "Will you get 4K?"
If you use the HDM-GA1 (Metra Home Theater) I think that you will get 10G 4K.
You may (no promise) get REAL lucky and support 8 bit HDR.

The esteemed Senator from Florida has more confidence than I do, as I don't know the distance of the dvi cable the Pioneer is deploying.

"Significant damage to walls and ceilings" sound like a clear winner to me. :) I love demolition work. Hire a pro to fix your mess. Your customer will thank you for doing it right. Run a 2" conduit while you are in there. And Atmos speaker locations. And anything else you can think of. Swiss cheese that mother.

Can we make "Estememed Senator from Florida" Brent's official title? It might at least reclaim one ball for the fact that he drives a Miata.

I think that "Elder Statesman" fits me better!

Whoa...so are you saying I could use the DVI to hdmi adapter then install the accelerator and I could potentially give them 4K? If that is the case then maybe I'll try this out and tell him the next option is wireless. If that doesn't work then it's Swiss cheese that mother up! :P my client was already not expecting to get 4K so that's ok, if he does it's a bonus.

I thought the Pioneer cable pin out was slightly different so it wasn't just a converter. Guess not!

This is awesome!

You could get one of those DIY HDMI termination kits, and cut the ends off and go to town. :)

I have successfully used the Peerless HDflows in philly high rises with amazing success. We all know how the city is unkind to RF though.
