I bought a firestick months ago just for when dish anywhere became available on it, so I could use it when traveling. I havent tried it yet. But I did try the alexa integration and found it disappointing. For one, it wont work with the joeys. and second, the transport commands rarely work. Also, I think Alexa screwed up my IP control from Elan last night. I had to delete dish from my elan system and set it back up

Dish picture seems just as good as the DTV picture. I have had no complaints.

Today we did an install for a client that used Dish. The Dish tech showed up and supposedly did the activation on the reciever. After he left and we finished mounting the tv, we found the receiver wasn't active. We were able to call Dish and give them the receiver ID (we didn't have any account info) and got them to finish the activation. I'd never get DTV to do that.

Not to defend DTV customer service, because they do blow. Ever increasingly with the recent merger. But I have done something like this dozens of times with DTV. Social engineering is an art!!

I am at my vacation home and don't have my info, my wife set up the account so its under her SS#, and I have used 4434 as the last 4 the SS# on account countless times. Just say it with confidence. I have no idea where this number came from, but it works a lot. With any of the providers.

I've managed to do it that way too. But in this case my boss said "I'm the audio guy hired to install the tv".

Tried the Dish Alexa interface over 2 days. Good to test out, but not ready for primetime. They admit it's early and they're still learning from it.

Parsing is a challenge.

TV is on. Alexa is blabbering something. YOu say, "Alexa stop." It stops the TV.

This is complicated stuff. That's why third-party audio controls (Sonos) aren't native yet.
