Today I received 4 texts from three different numbers over the course of the day.  First one read:

"Are you available to help ira with electronic repair in Stamford.  You have 1st priority.  Reply 1 if interested, 3 if not"  (phone number 650-727-7022)

Second text that came in read:

"Hi, a home owner in Stamford wants to get a quote for a home automation. You have 1st priority.  Reply 1 if interested, 3 if not"  (phone number 415-417-9971)

Third text read:

"Mira is requesting home automation in Stamford.  You have 1st priority.  Reply 1 if interested, 3 if not"  (same number as previous text)

On this one I replied 3 and texted do not contact me again.

Fourth text read:

"Just checking why you're not interested?  There's no monthly fee, and you can give quote online for free.  It is only a small fee for a guaranteed appointment" (phone number 650-695-4677)

I replied with:

"What is your company name, your name, phone number, and extension?"

Of course there was no reply.  I called the numbers and surprisingly they are not from Nigeria, but a "company" named Smith.  Website is www.go__smith.com with no spaces or underscores.  I am just not going to have a working link posted for their trash.

Has anyone else dealt with this?  I never signed up, showed interest, or even heard of them before.  Periodically, another one of these scam services pops up that texts.  Now they text from 3 different numbers in one day.  Wonderful.  So they are smart enough to know you cannot block more than several numbers so they just used a plethora of different numbers.

Yup, i've been getting them for about a month or so, but im getting
texts to my main phone.com voice line which then forwards an email to me.

Also, the ones im getting are for all different projects. In my spam box right now are 2, 1 for a garage and 1 for a bathroom remodel.

If you have an iPhone, you can block as many numbers you want. Calls and texts are block. However, they have the ability to leave a voice mail. Which will have its own folder labeled "Blocked numbers" and will fill up your VM allowance if not deleted.

I just found out that my g/f Android, she's not happy with it, can't block numbers unless you download an app. She's too stubborn to... sounds familiar. Ha

I went to the site and tried to request a quote for a home theater install. After putting in a name, zip code, and email address (Brendon, let us know if you hear from them) the next screen asked "what type of heating repair do you need?" And had options for repair, install, remove.

You can report abuse to your phone service provider. They are not excited about this, but if they act there will be wider impact. Having your phone block a number impacts only that phone. You can also complain to the FTC. Again, there is a high threshold, but potentially high impact.

What a total crackup that this post appeared here!

Fins, you should tell them that you want your heating to be tube, preferably 6L6s in a push-pull arrangement, but that you'll tolerate transistor heating if they can guarantee that it will sound good.

Don't you wish you could fill up their answering service?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

I started getting them few months ago.
Local area code and even local prefix.
Both text and phone calls.
On few occasions I was on the phone with someone else, so I did an auto replay "Can't call now, please call back later" type of message, only to get a reply via text or call from actual owner of the phone number confused about my text as they didn't call or text.

So these scum bags spoof local numbers. I'm not sure why, but I imagine it's to verify live number for a higher payout when they sell the list.

I was getting these non stop, but I called the company and asked them to take me of the list and that apparently worked.
If it's not simple, it's not sufficiently advanced.

This is exactly why it's done. Money.

Many times there will be no one on the other end of the line. It's just a machine programmed to look for "live" numbers that will be sold to telemarketers. The rest of the time it will be the telemarketers calling after the company has bought your number.

I turned of texting on my Verizon phone due to this problem escalating to sending out text messages,

It's a real problem once it starts. I've had up to 20 spam calls in a day.

Since I can't shoot the person behind this crap, could I shoot there computer and it be fine?

I think this is how Trump University worked. Until he was caught and had to pay a huge sum to ("I never settle") settle out of court.
