I haven't been out to troubleshoot yet, but a client has, over the course of a week or two had periodic issues with her URC remote going offline. I usually can fix with a reboot via OVRC. I was under the impression that something was going on with the URC system. Today she called again (finally while she is home, usually calls while she is running errands) and I had her go downstairs to the equipment. I had her press the reset button on the MRX10 and mentioned the lights will go off and then come back on and blink... She noticed that the lights were off on both the MRX10 and DMS1200. Both are plugged into a power strip and then plugged into the Wattbox IP 2 controllable port unit. This is an older unit and not sure if the problems they had plagued the 2 port units. Anyway, my OVRC app showed it as online but I issued a reboot anyway, and the MRX10 and DMS1200 came on. Is this a common issue with the 2 port units? Several days ago, when I went into the OVRC app, the same plug port showed as off. I thought maybe I shut it off last time I was in there and forgot to turn it back on, although I typically only do a reboot. Now I am not so sure and believe the Wattbox is simply failing. Will be going out next week to swap with another one I have lying around but want to make sure I have zero'd in on the right culprit.

I had a similar problem with a Panamax blue bolt unit today. I think a degree of inaccuracy is just part of IP controlled power.

I would check with Snap and find out if the normal state of the outlets is on, or off. In either case, it means the controller is doing something wrong because one of the states requires a relay to be toggled. Could be a bad relay, too.

Historically the units with the issue the controllable outlets failed to the off state, all at once and without warning, and nothing you tried would turn them back on.

Call them with the MAC and they can tell you if it's in the batch, and yes affected all sizes of the original models of IP.

I plan to swap it out with my personal 2 port unit that I no longer use. I will call Snap once I pick up the problematic one.

I had a newer 3 port have a port go off and refuse to turn back on no matter what I did. Snap swapped it out for a replacement no questions asked.

Other then the older units (that they replaced) that was my first failure with the new Wattbox stuff. And I have quite a few out in the field.

I just had older 3 outlet, 2 IP controlled, that burned out. There is a known issue with a capacitor that kills the 2 IP controlled outlets and the network card. It scared the hell out of me as I thought my Pioneer plasma died. Snap sent me a new one over night. Happened about 3 weeks ago.

This is the 1 and only issue I have ever had with a Wattbox to date. It still works, and still is controllable. It just seems to periodically shut off (but report it is still on).

We got real excited over wattbox a while back. Installed 30-40 of 2 outlet and 8 outlet ip contolled units. Nearly every single one has failed. Snap was good about replacing them overnight but even some of the replacements failed. We got to the point of asking for credit instead of replacements but snap said no. Switched to racklink units from middle atlantic and haven't looked back.

Ironic that the thing put in to prevent truck rolls causes truck rolls.

Were they all the early gen units? I have a good number out there, and this is the first issue I have ever had. Most of my units are the newer generation after the problematic series was replaced.

What do you guys think is the most reliable IP surge protector is out there? I have use Wattbox in the past. What about Bluebolt?

Or what about a unit that can just be scheduled to reboot periodically without IP control of individual outlets?
