That's what I keep saying. When a automation system is integrated caseta is no more limited then RA2/homeworks/C4 lighting etc.
Also for the record I have never ever had a single Lutron product fail, EVER
Caseta does still have limitations compared to the higher tier systems, even when combined with a control system. The most obvious are devices maximums, controlling tricky or large loads, huge properties, lack of keypad options, lack of color options, etc. The switches and dimmers also look out of place next to standard Decora switches.
Caseta is absolutely fantastic for what it is, and a freaking bargain, but if I show Caseta to a designer or architect they will typically push the client to increase the budget for a Ra2 or HWQS system.
That said, it is the first "cheap" lighting control system in which the performance meets (and even exceeds) the specs and expectations. We installed a handful of Z-wave dimmers for clients that had Z-wave door locks already and they were nightmares, pushing us to install Ra2, HWQS or nothing. Now with Caseta we have an affordable solution that we have no hesitation installing if it fits the maximum possible specifications that a project might present.
We sold around $200k in Lutron last year, and we have had some failures, but nothing compared to even the 2nd most reliable product in our lineup. We lost a Ra2 Main Repeater and a Triathlon roller shade just last week. I couldn't even remember the process to RMA products with Lutron we have used it so little.
