Caseta extremely limits automation IMO as you cant use lutron sensors with them. That right there renders Caseta useless to me.

UPB has limits as well, but works GREAT with lutron sensors. And it rock solid and never fails, unlike EVERY other device out there. True story.

But with C4 you can use their sensors to work with caseta. The caseta doesn't help your zigbee mesh like the C4 switches do.

Use Fibraro sensors, you can get them from URC

Use Fibraro sensors, you can get them straight from URC

Ok, Before anyone flames me this is for MY house and i would NEVER do this in a clients home. I need to order the panel from C4 but with Caseta out there and C4 at the helm i can do anything I want with caseta and when C4 is controlling it it is like its native! Its 12 loads of lighting I Need.

If i wasnt getting married I would probably just do the panel but considering the above i cant swing it right now. My whole house has been rewired for panel and im tired of living by lamps.

Is there something like this but for High Voltage?

I know I can just use 3 4 gang boxes but would like it to be a little cleaner! I know i can NEVER do this with C4/Zigbee but the caseta switches can be ganged.

Thoughts or do I just bite the bullet and do it right, even though its my house? :P

Don't know if you can get them in the States...

Limited yes, but when a REAL automation system is at the helm it's transparent and integration is seemless.

I'm doing some pretty cool automated things at my house based off of my security system and C4 with caseta.

That's what I keep saying. When a automation system is integrated caseta is no more limited then RA2/homeworks/C4 lighting etc.

Also for the record I have never ever had a single Lutron product fail, EVER

What about Ra2 with wall power modules? Looks clean but sometimes the limitations of them can be frustrating.

My friend does Ra2 with the pulseworks enclosures and I just shutter when he shows me pictures or talks about them. It's not much more to put in a homeworks panel by the time you kit out the other one with DIN rail and document/label everything.

Does it, at some point, become more an issue of what your are authorized to sell/install?

All you need now is a REAL automation system and you're set!

Good luck.

I do get that argument but I don't see it as a valid reason for poor system design.

I don't know what the steps necessary to obtain Homeworks authorization are, but I believe it is not simply signing paperwork. On a project in which it is necessary, I would say it best to team up with someone that can provide the correct system if you yourself do not have access to do so. At his own home though? I would say he should use what works for him in his budget without bringing in a new line or another integrator.

In ten years of having my HW system, I had 2 repeaters fail, but those were known issues and Lutron replaced them immediately.

Brendon, can you create different ramp rate scenes with Caseta like you can with C4's APDs?
I couldn't do that with UPB and really like that capability with C4 platform.

Brend, if I remember, I'll send you a picture of that PCS panel from my house -- just don't judge.

Great, you just invited Tucker to the conversation.

Invited me as well...UPB

just works...all the time....hundreds of switches in many dozens of houses and haven't had a switch failure nor a communication problem.
