Helping a long time client prep for a party/business event at his home this week.

He sprung a last minute request on me, he has two 30 second commercials that were produced for his business. He would like them to be played on the family room tv for the duration of the party.

Display is a couple year old 60" Samsung, there is also a newer Marantz AVR and appletv in the mix. Audio is not an issue, he just wants the video to play.

This is not something he plans on doing on a regular basis so cheap/temp setup is preferred.

Ideas?

Can the Sammy play videos from a USB stick plugged into the USB port? That's as cheap as you can get.

If the Sammy doesn't autoplay both files, you can easily download some editing software and combine the files together so they play continuously.

cheap dvd player, burn the commericals to disc, play on repeat disc
One thing I have learned in this industry. It is easier to pull a wire than it is to push one.

If there's a PC on the network running iTunes, easy:

== New AppleTV Method

With the new Apple TV there is a simpler method for this: First make sure the Repeat Music setting is set in the Audio/Video Setting section

1.create a playlist

2. drop in your videos

3. command select all the video files

4. get info on the selected files

5. change the type to Music Videos

6. On the AppleTV go to Computers > %ComputerName% > Music > Music Videos

7. Play the play list or singular video you want to repeat and away it goes
Technology is cheap, Time is expensive.

Funny, I have never used this feature on any of the hundreds of samsung tvs I have installed over the years.

Put both the videos on a USB stick, plugged it in to one of my tvs at home that is about the same age and series as the clients, selected USB1 as the input, went to the transport controls and selected "repeat all".
Works like a charm.

While I won't need it for this job (and it wouldn't be here in time anyway), I went ahead and ordered one to have around.

Handy looking little thing and cheap enough to impulse buy.

Your welcome, glad it worked out!! USB ports get overlooked for simple things like this all the time. I have a few clients that use these features every once in a while.

The problem is every TV manufacturer is different. LG commercial is usually the best for this application.
