I set up a house audio system, Jamo ZI-8 in a basement enclosure, AT101s in each room. When I was done everything worked fine, then the custromer asked if I could wire a sub in the living room for more bass. I ran wires out of the vol control to a wall plate in the corner of the room for sub hookup and then back to vc box to hookup to the speaker leads. When the Vol control is off the speakers are on just a little bit. This is the only room where this happens.

The vc is a transformer type and I think when they are off they open the output winding on the transformer. I replaced the vc, same problem.

I believe the problem is the new wires to the sub are running right next to the wire to the amp and picking up a little crosstalk.

The wires are all Genesis HTS 16/4. They are twisted which I always thought would keep this from happening.

How about using a shielded speaker wire to and from the sub, there is a nearby cold water pipe to ground the shield to?

Have you tried NOT running the speakers through the sub? Tap the output of the vc to the sub, leave the speakers wired to the vc. Just a thought.

Jamo used to make an interface block that accepts speaker inputs then thru a small crossover then to the speaker output terminals. The output terminals filtered out some low frequencies. (not sure which Hz).

Meanwhile, in the center of the block was a summed mono RCA jack for a subwoofer connection.

So, you can either use the input terminals to connect the speakers uninterupted or you can you the output side for a highpass crosssover signal.

You'd have to call Jamo to see if they still have some hanging around...they were cheap....maybe $20. or so.

Why not just parralel the output to the sub at the volume contol. Don't sent the signal there and back. ALso, you could swap out the volume control for a transformer free type.
