Just added third new Nissan NV2500HD. 5 year, 100,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. Selling off the GMC first (major expenses all the time, computer, etc....), than Rusty, the old Ford 150. Trying to get to all the same kind of vans.

I've had my NV 2500HD for going on 5 years now. Haven't had a single issue thus far. Rides great. For a van, I really like it.

Yes. We had a mixture of Ford and GMC. Wasn't happy with either, so we bought a Nissan NV about four years ago. Designed an had a wrap done, and loved it. Bought two more sense. Great vans.

I don't love the look of the high roof model! However, we don't need one. For the times we have large racks or 98" displays, we just rent a box van with a lift gate.

I just looked at a chevy express van. A company had one with a tranny issue. wanted $900 with 124k miles. He said very little rust. I was like hell ya sure I'll come take a look at it. I get there the thing has rockers that are rotted out on both sides, the door bottoms are rotted. Hoods rotted with the paint flaked off.

wtf. Most of them I find are like 8-9 grand used with 180k miles that are in semi ok shape.

screw that. Not paying that kind of money for a POS van with a low roof.

I did the truck/trailer and due to garage height, added a Metris. In-between the big and small vans at 185cubic feet and can fit inside my garage door. A plus is that it can tow 5000lbs which allows me to still use the trailer when I need a bit more cargo space, but not have to rely on working out of the truck, or having to deal with parking the trailer. 25MPG is a plus for any work van. Still have the truck for heavy duty hauling or 4wd days. So far the Metris has done great in snow and ice with just a good set of Nokians.

I used to do the truck and trailer thing, sold the truck and got a van with spartan box on it. Never again will I deal with a trailer unless its needed for a oversized tv or an equipment delivery!

hmm the trailer was really that much of a pain in the ass huh. Right now for me it would be better then just working out of the pickup.

The problem I have is the rust buckets up in NY. I don't want to make the leap cost wise into a new body style van just yet. I figure i'd be spending 25 grand easily on a decent Tall roof sprinter, transit, or promaster used. But if I go with the older E series or Express Vans I get a much smaller cargo area with a low roof which sucks. Generally even at the 10 grand mark there is some body rust. Everyone i've looked at is just filthy inside and beat up and they have 160k miles + on them. I can't justify that expense for something like that.

So a trailer seems like the best option. I can get one brand new 14 footer for 3500. Rack it out awesome for another 4-5 grand or less. Have a nice 7' tall roof and some serious cargo space so all my wire, tools ,ladders, etc. I also dont have to worry about replacing all the things that go bad on a high mileage van. It will also look new and pretty when I pull up to clients homes. Pulling up in an older body style van with rust in my eyes just doesn't look professional.

The business is growing and at some point hope to have several newer body style vans. But for now I want to do it smart and on a budget.
