Do i need a two to one adapter for this or can i just use one of the leads or does the antenna need to be replaced?

If I remember correctly, older XM or Siris, when they were separate. Used a two antenna system. One for the normal satellite signal and the other for testeral signals. Of course the mobile radios needed this more.

But if there's a new radio involved, then I don't know if a new antenna is needed. I know that the newer radios use one antenna for the satellites and testeral signals.

This is for a vehicle I assume? One lead is the Satellite (usually yellow if I remember correctly) and the other green lead is Terrestrial for ground based repeaters. As long as you are out in mostly open area and not in somewhere like NYC with big buildings you should be fine with only the Satellite lead.

They do sell adapters as well but not necessary. But if your antenna is that old that it has both leads its probably a big ugly one- you'd be better off replacing it with a newer micro style antenna. Unless its like an OEM antenna thats thru the roof- even in that case i'd just leave the old one up there and use a new micro antenna. Some of those old ones weren't the greatest.

It's a 100+ year old boat. The last system was focal car audio drivers, alpine amps and an alpine head unit & an external XM box from Alpine.

No one gets to touch the old antenna because no one really cares about XM. But sine the new Fusion system has XM im hoping to get it working just because.

New system is custom triad speakers with 2 ported triad subs and Fusion amps.

Would love to see a pic of the vessel, if you're permitted!

What was your antenna solution?

Probably to plug in the green lead. I knew it would work with a dual lead antenna to a signal jack radio. I just didn't know which lead was the sat and the land base.

It after looking through a few pages, I found this from 10 years ago...

I dont know. The roof of the boat is 1/4 inch plywood from 100 years ago so no one wanted to go up. XM wasnt on the todo list until a couple days before sea trial so i posted here and gave it a shot knowing that if it didnt work it was no big deal. It did work so now the client has it whether he wants it or not :).
