I have done this before and it works great, but this time i am running it through a receiver to a projector and not getting any video. Has anyone tried this before through a receiver? I'm thinking that maybe it's up converting the signal to 4k so it's not showing any video. It's a Denon x2300 but haven't been able to see how to stop the up converting.

Not familiar with Denon but surely there is a processing menu to completely turn off upconverting and simply set it to "pass-through" or the like.

And odd there is a coax going to a projector. I assume it old component wiring or something. No cat there? Cant get a cat?

yes it is very old wiring. I tried to attach to current cabling and pull through new but no conduit and to many corners. So that's why i am using HDMI over coax baluns. I did set the receiver to pass through with no luck.

ok, then doesnt sound like a 4k issue.

maybe try setting everything to 720 and see if that work. then try 480. at least this will help tell where the issue is?

I am trying to change the resolution but it's greyed out.
I am reaching out to Denon to find out how to change the resolution unless you have any ideas.

Under Video>Output Settings>HDMI setup you need to set Video Mode to Auto and i/p scaler to 'HDMI' and then your resolutions will be available.

Are you using both HDMI monitor outputs?

There's no way you can stick a single wire into an HDMI connector, so you must be using someone's product to convert from an HDMI signal to a signal that can go over one wire. Not all products are identical to one another. What are the brands and model numbers of the parts you're using in addition to the bare wire?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Ernie, its and HDMI over coax extender. So it extends over one coax cable. There is a transmitter and receiver. Both ends have and HDMI input/ouput. The company is direct connect.

How is the coax terminated?

Ethereal has a fantastic HDMI over Coax product but does require the coax to be terminated with BNC. you cannot use a BNC adapter (from F/RCA) as they do not provide the proper resistance.

It can't do 4K or 480P. Some directv receivers (especially commercial) default out of the box to 480p

And what if Direct Connect has six models of video over one cable? We do some research, we find they have six models, we come back and ask for the model number, the conversation takes longer... you're asking for free help from people who earn their living doing this stuff. Why do you seem to be avoiding giving us all the information we say we need to give you free help?

Look at it like this: I have a vehicle. It has four wheels and an engine. I bet you have a vehicle with four wheels and an engine.

I'm glad we can predict that if we race vehicles with one another, it will be a dead heat because all items that can be described as "a vehicle with four wheels and an engine" are specified identically and actually perform identically.

That's obviously sarcasm, but the point is that brand and model matter. Read my signature below. I wrote it several years ago after counting more than a thousand actual times when it was necessary for me to ask for brand and model to offer help.

here is the model number DCC5HCXIR. I have a planet waves cable in between that is f-connector that is connected by a barrel connector to the original coax and the other end is BNC to extender. Both the transmitter and receiver have this set up. I used this set up before with a directv receiver and it worked great. I did have to change the resolution on it from 480.

Get rid of the Planet Waves. If I understand your language you're using the crimp-less f-connector on that stranded RG59 and then coupling it to a BNC adapter.

That cable is fine for audio and lower bandwidth signals but the quality of the connection of that little needle inside the stranded RG59 center conductor means that it ain't even close to 75-ohms or whatever the ideal impedance is for HDMI on coax.

Your signal should be carried HDMI > DC box > BNC-RG6-BNC > DC box to HDMI.

i figured with such a short run with planet waves it wouldn't be an issue plus i have done it before and it worked fine. Anyway if i can't get it to work i guess i will have to cut holes and run an HDMI cable.
