It was a gift. From a relative. I decided to not try to explain the moral issue, even if the use of such devices may be technically a legal gray area at this time. But in the packaging were setup instructions that also included how to sign up for a subscription to live TV. It's a service called Gears TV and the website is hostingbros.net/acc .   I can't find anything about if paying for this service solves the legal question. Actually, I can't find much on this service at all. Does anyone have more info on it?

Well, upon more reading, I did find its $15 per stream. So, if you decide to cut the cord and then put one of these boxes at each of 5 TVs in your house, to be able to use this service, would be 5x$15.

Quite certain it's still "not actually legal", and hosted out of Europe. Seems to be formerly known as "Reboot".

When I fired up Kodi I started with a google search on stuff like: 'best kodi plugins for 2017' or 'best xyz kodi plugins' (whoops I don't mean xxx plugins, edit) and installed those. I don't use it much though.

Enjoy it while you can. Pretty soon they will close the loophole and make it illegal.

Dam I hate paying for cars maybe I should start stealing them. while at it. Food prices are high. Let me find a way to steal that too. This cord cutting BS is just more dumb people jumping on a band wagon. Soon driving up HSD prices. all these googles, amazons, sat and sat cable companies are like any other business. Charge as much as they think market will bear. They do have tremendous overhead and need to make a profit.
