Like to stick my nose in. Hold on stop there. Customers wireless is slowwwww. Wired is fine. Notice a power inserter in coax like for an amp. I know this is wrong power pack for current amps in our area I have spares because I collect them. Swapped it and speed corrected. I know improper power pack causes forward snr and signal issues for cable CPE. Could modem detect this rf issue and curtail speeds or WiFi performance. I know they go into partial service mode with poor rf. Maybe keeping voice active. You guys know any more about this?

I could see this being a problem if it was leaking RF, but otherwise, I haven't seen or heard of it. Did you disconnect the power while you were making the new connection?

Is this a modem/router or separate pieces? If separate, try putting some distance between the two. Also, try using Inssider or some other took for RF spectrum analysis to see where it's strongest.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

It is an all in one EMTA. I had just caught a glimpse of the power inserter and power pack for amp. Odd that speed jumped. Should not offer to look at some things.
InSSIDer looked good. No power pack swap only interupred rf signal
