What kind of tool will remove a security fitting from a Comcast splitter or amplifier? It looks sort of like an F fitting but the tool has to go down inside it with two small tabs to grab, for a counter clockwise removal. May also be the same tool to take the fitting and cover off of the box at the demarc location – I have seen them there a time or two.

Saw this at Amazon - is it right? But want something that will last. [Link: amazon.com]

That should remove a terminator but it looks pretty fragile, hope the terminator isn't on to tight.

Tool is fragile. Terminator is installed with same. The tool will only fail if the terminator is seized from corrosion. You can get them off with your side cutter nipping away at the end of terminator. Yes Ernie it's a hack. But a thief does not wait to get a key.

When I worked at Comcast, we had two locking tools. It wasn't to install the locks, but rather remove them when found. Because we were instructed to leave the cable active at all times.

And that tool posted looks like one of them.

I've had one like this for 10+ years. Still works great.

Thank you. Who is Gilbert, and how did he get to be famous?

Another note: the cable installer was an A-hole.
They are not suppose to put those on connections in the customer's house, including the structured wiring can. That is NOT their property and have no right to 'lock' the customer out of the customer's own stuff.
Those connectors are suppose to be out at the demarc and pole.

Because of all the BS that happened with those connectors many years ago (including A-hole cable installers), you don't see them being used anywhere in the southeast anymore.
Was that an old install you are working on? The equipment looks fairly new (only a few years old at best). I would be having a talk with the local cable plant.

Very good point. I did not see the picture of the splitter until I got on a computer. And as you stated, the splitter is in the house. Thus belongs to the customer.

OP, if you can't get the locks off. Call the cable company and demand to have them removed. And make sure they don't charge the customer.

The cable installers for T*5e Wa*%*r in our area still use them to lock you out. One of their installers left the Gilbert tool on site one day so now is mine and I take them off when I come across them.

Take a fitting, use a pair of diaganols to separate the body from the head. When it's apart, there's a sleeve that will fall out. You can drop that sleeve into the terminator and use the head, screwing it on, to press the sleeve into the terminator and unscrew the whole thing.
Hey, careful man, there's a beverage here!
