I was just at a friend's house who has an 850d, one day he couldn't turn the TV on so he moved the plug thinking it was the outlet.
The first time you "solve" a problem by the one act of moving to another socket, you won't notice that the list of things you did was not this:
1.move to another socket
It was this:
1.unplug
2.move to another socket
3.replug
The last step is to realize that #2 didn't affect the problem at all.
This is why it's so important not to move, or even inspect, anything until the client has shown you the problem. Any act can introduce a variable that you don't notice right away, making it take longer to solve the problem.
