Is it required that one have a Comcast account as a condition to sign up? I've been avoiding this because I don't like their NDA, but I've been thinking about just sucking it up and joining.

You don't hve to! I've been a CXI member for two years now and just switched to Comcast last month, mainly because of CXI actually!

It makes things sooooo much easier...and you can order a rack mount xfinity box to boot!

Any word on IP control? Seems like it's been "coming soon" for a while?

My first experience a couple years ago with CXI was horrible, never heard back after I submitted info on their portal for a client upgrade and then followup up with two phone calls. Finally called the regular customer service number and setup the upgrade with the client.

The second and more recent time I called and asked for help after a client ordered an X1 upgrade and I couldn't get it all working correctly myself. Setup an appointment for early AM two days later. Tech showed up on time and had all the correct parts needed. He struggled to get it all working (9 total boxes, multiple DVRs, had to add a resi gateway to the account?, new amplified splitter) I was very happy in the end.

In my city, Comcast is unavailable. Wish they were since CableOne has a stupid low limit of 300G/month for ISP vs. Comcast's 1000G/mo.

With that said, when I joined CXI program, there was not a single inquiry about being a customer, etc. The program is an awesome one and anyone that services Comcast area should definitely join.

I just emailed them about this. The response was that it will only be available through CXI integrators. They also said it has been finished and tested. They are currently waiting on confirmation from control manufacturers. The other part of this is they are shuring up the back end, security and also legal issues. Aparently the IP control will go through the cloud and not direct to boxes, similar to how the boxes currently respond to remote commands.

We'll see!

Hmmm

I was also told at cedia that it should only be a couple of weeks, well that was over 6 months ago.
So at this point I'll believe it when I see it
I also see no reason why it should only be Cxi integrators.

Comcast will give rack mounted units to anyone who asks.  Walked into a new client the other day who had two of them.  Asked how he got them and he said he just asked for them!

I can't vouch for the accuracy of this comment, but I heard that one of the main drivers of IP control has left the company.

To follow up on Buzz's comment, let's just say the restaurant needs to hire a new cook.

Neal was a driving force behind a lot of the CXI stuff going on and has left Comcast.

Exactly. Why would Comcast care that you are a customer for their CXI program?

It's like someone applying for a position at Comcast only to get turned down because their not a customer. Whether they are located in a Comcast service area or not.
