Pub wants to display Youtube from time to time and pump the audio through their Sonos system. Do any of the Roku have analog audio out?

You'll probably need to do a HDMI audio extractor piece of some sort.

You will get a delay unless you are using a Playbar I believe.

Using Connect amps. How about Apple TV with a digital to analog convertor?

Which Roku? Does it have an optical out? You could use a DAC, but I would expect some delay.

What else is in the system? Does it have any kind of receiver/AVR?

This system looks like it's seriously limited in its functionality.

I'm using a Vanco audio extractor right at the Roku 4 and there's no delay. The instructions were backwards, though, as to whether an LED should be on or off. (There's a push button that toggles between two different modes of audio, indicated by the LED being on or off.)
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

Roku SE has HDMI and a/v out.

The Sonos will introduce the delay, not the extractor. Setting the line in on the Connect to uncompressed will help some but sometimes it's still noticeable.

In the uncompressed mode there is about 70ms latency between a Sonos Line-In and output from a player. Compressed mode adds significantly to this latency.

One would think there would be a product to overcome this delay..... :-)

Introducing the TC Electronic D-22 Digital Broadcast Delay II for only $2,195.00: [Link: markertek.com]. Too bad it's only two channels.

Of course, this is assuming the delay is of the video and the audio has to be delayed to match...

Everybody talks about delay but nobody specifies whether some audio processing creates the delay in the audio, or the audio comes out quickly and video processing makes the picture delayed.

The delay is so short I can't tell whether the image or the sound is first.

Which is it? Are there sometimes delays of both audio and video?

This is why you specify commercial gear instead of consumer gear.

Sonos should only be installed as a streaming source, period.

If you had a proper DSP in place for the audio system, you could easily achieve the delays you need for proper system setup.

lippa, I find it hard to believe that a consumer system with a source, even a streaming source, and an A/V receiver, and speakers, cannot be set up without a delay problem.

Is it perhaps that we're trying to do too many things while the consumer manufacturers don't give us enough information or features to allow us to do all of those things? Surround in one room, same program in stereo in another room, audio from all of that fed to a Sonos somewhere else... like that?

That model isn't available any more.

This one will do hdmi and a/v out at the same time, and I've not had any delay problems.
