Has anyone used the Xantach URC-2 remote? It seems to have everything I am looking for in a remote and at a reasonable price. How does it compare to Pronto, MX-500/700? I read the reviews and have used the Pronto and MX-500. Thanks.

That's like comparing apples to watermellon.
It does not compare in any way to touchscreen/lcd remotes. It is all hard buttons . It is a great programming tool though.

I have installed many. you need to program with Dragon Drop to do it right. The remote is not comparable to Pronto for the one reason (Display). However, in terms of use it can be just as easy a pronto. It would work well in a situation with minimal components.

I tried the Pronto. It is a great remote for when my mom babysits. But, for me I prefer buttons, the MX-500 was too complicated for her. So, I might give the URC-2 a try. Thanks for the help.

The one thing I did not like was having to use the shift function to have both transport & cursor/menu functions with a component requiring both like a DVD player. The new 2nd generation URC2 has a shift status indicator LED. I love watching the Smartpads react to the URC2 and track to the same component (Push "CD" on the URC2 and "CD" LED on the Smartpad in the room/zone will also light. I have had about 3 failures out of many dozens I have sold/installed. This is an amazingly compact, powerful, and well lit (it always lights up/glows when moved) remote. Nothing in it's price range comes close. The MX700 would be my only step-up choice of anything else out there.

Tell me... did Xantech ever get the URC-2P/RP with newer Dragon Drop software (imports CCFs) out there?

Not to my knowledge Daniel and I spoke with a tech there that didn't make it sound like they were happy about doing it in the future.

The latest version of Dragon Drop software does allow you to import .ccf files. It has been a little sporadic at times as to which commands it will import however.
