They told me when I asked it was not proprietary. Its just OEM from Blustream in UK.

Also I keep hearing this compliant that the JAP setup is complicated but the software from JAP does all the setup for you and it doesnt seem all the difficult. Not sure what I'm missing there.

Did you guys pick up Elan and ditch Savant?

I asked one of their engineers who also trains and name rhythms with eff and he said it could be possible but not really supported. I mentioned that they should really come up with a programming utility for their controller "box" and allow access from all other systems.

I decided to do training because we didn't hit our Savant numbers last year and we had a discussion about our status. I love Savant but I also have experienced a lot of issues over the past two years and I'm cautious about the future. So we get dumped, I want to have a back up plan. With regards to Elan, I really love their intercom, door control, and more open programming architecture. It's less expensive with more features and I have never heard a compliant about hardware. I just don't like the manic programming especially in the "media" tab. Everything else is pretty straight forward... Now that they have a 3rd party driver section, newer products can actually be implemented pretty quickly compared to the past. Sort of a long winded response LOL...

I thought they had scrapped that idea.

Not as of last week.

How is requiring a layer 3 switch any different than the other solutions? If anything, it makes it more expensive than the multicasting solutions that only require a switch with IGMP support.

I was just regurgitated what we were told. Not sure of the differences and how much cost savings one has over the other. I do think with Elan's offering it's possible to link switches with a typical connection vs. needing a fiber backplane but I'm not 100% sure on that. I have a few jobs where that would be an advantage.

I think, right now JAP with Blackwire is the route to go.

Which vendors offer a REST API or other Web API for custom integration?

Can one view the API docs easily, or do they require dealer/developer registration before you can take a look at them?

If you are in the US, just call us at 800-615-0206 Ext 1 and ask for a demo kit. You will be loaned a switch and enough J+P gear to vet the API and everything else.

If you are elsewhere, send me a PM and we'll work something out.

it really is a game changer. All of my jobs have been absolutely bulletproof. What blackwire offers is really nice and I think im going to start buying from him.

That being said Ive deployed all of my own systems all witch cisco switches and it cannot be any easier.

With the recent release of the 2GΩ its very very cost effective for 1080P distribution. It also works well with JAPS 4K stuff.
