We weed help vetting an "HDMI over IP" vendor.
This category has quickly expanded to multiple vendors beyond JAP.
Ideally we're looking the for best/easiest brand to integrate with RTI but reliability is paramount.
So far considering JAP, Wyrestorm, Atlona, Key Digital, Kramer, and Zigen. I'm sure there are many more out there but these are the top CEDIA brands (I'm sure SnapAV will soon enter into this space as well).
Cannot seem to find any articles featuring side by side comparisons.
Any input on this would be appreciated.

Used both JAP and video storm with great results
Each have their pros and cons.
Key digital could give me their gear and I still wouldn't touch it based on previous experience with their front end (product) and back end (support and accounting)

Look no where else but JAP. Products just work and the tech support may be the best in the industry

JAP or Videostorm would be my choices as well.
Liberty Cable has a newer product out as well, but haven't tried it yet. On paper, the two above give you more for your money.

As per a training I just had with Elan, their new solution looks pretty nice. A lot of the same spec's as the other players but they use a controller that manages the video streams. Because of this, you only need a layer 3 switch and do not need a very expensive solution and the traffic doesn't effect your regular switch traffic. Plus their isn't VLAN tagging or any other complicated setup needed. Unfortunately, I think they are making a big mistake by making it proprietary to Elan.
Snap has a version on the horizon but I'm guessing qtr 1 of 18'.

Snap has a version on the horizon but I'm guessing qtr 1 of 18'. How is requiring a layer 3 switch any different than the other solutions? If anything, it makes it more expensive than the multicasting solutions that only require a switch with IGMP support.

Snap has a version on the horizon but I'm guessing qtr 1 of 18'. Using unmanaged switches is how Videostorms solution works. However, there is a cutoff for that implementation. I believe its multicast for up to 32 devices/vodes and anything afterwards needs to be set up using unicast and a separate VLAN.

[Link: blustream.co.uk]Also I keep hearing this compliant that the JAP setup is complicated but the software from JAP does all the setup for you and it doesnt seem all the difficult. Not sure what I'm missing there. Did you guys pick up Elan and ditch Savant?

Did you guys pick up Elan and ditch Savant? JAP is not hard to setup. Its setup program can take time but you dont need to know anything about VLANs or L3 switches to setup and program Jus Add Power. BlackWire Designs (distributor - me) does setup for free for dealer who buy through us as a way to help them save time. At the end of the day anyone can program a system though.

Which vendors offer a REST API or other Web API for custom integration?
Can one view the API docs easily, or do they require dealer/developer registration before you can take a look at them?
