Since I have been planning for my own system, and talking with a neighbor about it, he started asking questions. His budget is pretty weak so I started looking at some options. He has the same basic floor plan I do, and liked my plan to put the speakers in ceiling. I narrowed it to these 2. I have installed some of the REV8LCR.1 before but did not ever really have a chance to do any focused listening..... and it has been a while ago.

The 1700 Point 6 looks the part..... And the reviews on the 1700 line in general are good. But I have not seen nor heard them.

I do not suppose anyone has done both, or even one or the other and can provide your thoughts? My gut says go with whatever is cheaper. But it is pretty much a wash between the 2. I gave him my old Klipsch Subwoofer last fall when I saw him tossing a theater in a box system in the trash. He said his wife had gotten it for him for a gift and it sounded horrible. I think they must have had an argument about it and that was his way of winning. :)

Anyhow. Enjoy the rest of the weekend folks!

Snap allows returns for any reason- if they don't work, it would cost shipping which, for a pair of these, isn't a lot. I like the idea of the Snap enclosure on the back- remove a piece of plastic covering the port and screw it in place to create a back box.

I have not listened to that particular model from TruAudio before. But considering several different models of TruAudio I have listen to in the past, were all complete dog crap. I would not recommend them.
Really pisses me off back then, that so many dealers were singing praise about TruAudio (including sound quality). But come to find out it was only because of the huge markup, price protection, and service. Their speakers are some of the worst flea market crap I had ever heard - with a stupid price tag for what they are.
It was also an eye opener about some of the 'so called' dealers selling them, that were praising the sound quality. Truly some tone deaf people that have no business being in the audio industry.

I don't find Episode speaker to be of particularly good value, especially the latest offerings. I think they need to be about 20-30% cheaper than what they currently are. But the sound quality is OK and it they were 20-30% cheaper, would compete well with speakers similarly priced.

So to directly answer your question = Go with the Episode.

To answer indirectly = That is the only 2 lines of speakers you have to choose from? No real speaker manufactures?

lol I know a dealer like this.
To be fair I have yet to hear a snap speaker that was great. Their outdoor stuff is ok. The indoor speakers that I have heard are underwhelming to say the least.

How about something like current audio? They are priced similarly, I think sound better, and some of them let the whole driver assembly rotate for aiming the sound.

Absolutely agree on both counts.

The outdoor stuff is quite good, though the results can vary greatly depending on the landscape you have to work with.

But at least the indoor stuff looks pretty excellent, IMO. I put their on-wall LCR bars around a ~70" display and it really looks pretty awesome. During the initial installation, the left speaker "woofer" (it's a 2-way...the big part, which is still very small) wasn't playing, so I called it in. They said, "yup, no problem, we'll overnight one", which was great. They didn't even want the old one back, so I popped it open to see if I could maybe fix it. But it was missing the voice coil - it literally didn't have all the parts it needed to function. I wonder how that slipped by quality control..?
